I had a crazy thing happen where I crafted some spellcloth and it never showed up in my bags. I submitted a ticket to Blizzard, and the response was absolutely wild. Is it bad AI, or someone that can’t read English? I can’t tell. Anyone have advice?
Here’s the ticket so far:
I made spellcloth, and it never appeared in my inventory. I’m now short two items of spellcloth (spellcloth specialist). I should have 18 total, and I only have 16.
I followed the support article, and I exited wow, renamed the cache, interface, and wtf folders, but I still was not able to find the missing spellcloth. I also checked the item restoration page, and it was not listed.

Hello Toby,
This is Game Master [Blizz rep]. I see that you have an issue with missing item you recently crafted. I understand how frustrating it can be when something like this happens. Lets find that Spellcloth.
Looking into this, so I checked your character inventory and I did find the Spellcloth. You have total 16 in your Bank it could be that you put them all in the bank without noticing. Head to the bank and check your character personal bank and you will find them there.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time! Have a great day!

FWIW, there’s no way I am confused about the totals. The 16 spellcloth were in my bank, when I crafted the new spellcloth. The spellcloth I crafted never showed up in my characters bags (or elsewhere). I checked immediately after I crafted, because I always try to put my newly crafted spellcloth in the bank with the rest.

It’s someone who’s expected to answer 10,000 tickets per day (or some other ridiculous number) and who mostly deals with people who have no idea what’s going on or why, so they gave you a default response after skimming your ticket.
Because when this happens, 99.997% of the time, it’s user error.
Respond to the ticket with more information and details to get them to reopen it.
About one year ago, my default assumption would have been an overworked staff person. After seeing a bunch of companies recently fire double-digits percentage of their staff citing AI, my working assumption is now a crappy LLM.
I had submitted a response re-iterating what I already said, but was awaiting (still am awaiting) a reply when I posted here. I came to the forums hoping a human being might have some advice.
No one on this forum can help you with this.
The Customer Support forum might have someone respond, but it’s most likely that they would tell you to keep going with your ticket.
Doesn’t really look like AI, but I can understand why it does. It looks like someone with minimal information doing the best they can with what they can see, even if it is ultimately wrong. One time (Like OG Vanilla/TBC era) I made a ticket because a quest was marked as complete even though I only had 2 of the 5 scarab shells needed for the ZF quest. Little did I realize I had 3 in my bank. This is the kind of stuff they are responding to these days so it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks like this.
If what you’re describing truly happened you’re going to have to keep appealing the ticket and explain all the spellcloth was in the bank prior to craft and see if they can continue to assist further.
You could also post in the CS forum and see if they can help, but they generally can’t. They may, however, be able to shed some light on what they see in the game logs and let you know if they see anything of significance.
