Hi all, well it was probably a few expansions ago but in pvp (but it might have just been in open world) I was able to misdirect to my pet and it would cause who ever was attacking me to drop me as a target. Does that still work at all? Thanks.
During WoD there was a Glyph? of mis-direct?
Anyhow, you could almost continuously redirect your threat to your pet.
Ahh… It was Glyph of Distracting Shot.
This glyph would direct the effect of distracting shot to your pet.
It’s gone, no glyph, no distracting shot.
There is Misdirect. For 8 seconds, threat that you cause will be directed to your pet, provided you use misdirect on your pet.
You can use Misdirect on any party member.
The ask was about PvP, not PvE. I don’t recall a target-drop mechanic to it in prior expansions, but tbh I don’t really PvP, so I may have missed it. Even if it did have it, however, I doubt it still has that mechanic.
Well, OP did say perhaps it was in open world. I’ve never heard of a Pvp ability that would do that. Misdirect could be close enough.
Thanks all, I think i remembered it in cata. I know in used it open world for sure (and someone used it on me thats how I found out about it). I thinknit is gone like you guys said. I was asking for pvp.
Ya, the only thing I’m aware of that forces hostiles to lose target on you is Feign Death.
You just reminded me of something Jellybeans taught me for Arena back in the day. You could distracting shot a mages pet right as they finished their polymorph cast on you, and it would force their pet to attack you, thus breaking the poly. Same with hunter pets / traps. God this game used to have so many good abilities and creative, high skillcapped ways to use them aside from their tooltip.
I’m actually incredibly cross that Distracting Shot wasn’t one of the abilities unpruned. Skilled hunters could do so many good plays with it.
I’m missing SnG 4-Hunter Heroics already…
I’m not a pvp player. Playing pve, I’d say I am competent, I get by, but I never have been really good, really skillful.
But I can recognize it.
The ceiling for MM Hunters was as high as the clouds!
Because we had tools.
BfA, we didn’t. A Hunter, played perfectly, could be outdone in both pvp and pve by most other Classes, played less perfectly.
On the other hand, MM Hunter was simple enough , that it was hard to play it really badly.
