According to Thalyssra’s own words they simply tried to keep the eye of Aman’thul out of the legions hands.
It could have been used for the rebellion. its a weak excuse don´t you think?
Idk mate I’m simply repeating the reasoning thalyssra talked to Shandris about during nazjatar.
In Warcraft 3, Malfurion commented that Tyrande had changed, and that there was little mercy left within her. She responded by saying that she wasn’t the one sleeping through times of peril…
I think it makes sense that Tyrande has changed through the Long Vigil, and years of recollection of what happened in the WotA would take a toll on her. I like that it gives her some mettle and some flaws. She isn’t the only one-even Shandris and several Sentinels expressed distrust towards other Highborne and the Nightborne.
But I’ve never seen Tyrande acting outright irrationally, everything has come from a place of dealing with said group previously. Even then, most of the time it is cautionary words. I feel the line to Thalyssra is over emphasised as if it is supposed to mean something else. It doesn’t- she asked her a question, got an answer and gave a response. It meant nothing else.
True, Tyrande wasn’t looking for diplomacy in that instance, but she also did lend aid and didn’t sabotage their efforts in any way. People act like she set fire to the Nightwell herself.
WOTA was the best thing that happened to the Night Elves. It showed the brutality of war and had their night sabers ripping the flesh off of demons. It showed them not as a “hippie” race, but as a warrior race.
I’m not suggesting Tyrande be kind 100% of the time. But as of late, she hasn’t been acting very priestly. Heck in all of the novels and in WoW, Sylvanas at least waved to an Orc family in Orgrimmar. I haven’t even seen Tyrande do anything like that. They don’t even show her doing little things like that. Even before Teldrassil, why do we rarely if ever see Tyrande be kind?
Our last interactions with her were… Suramar and Val’sharah. Those were horrible interactions and it’s a shame that Sylvanas Windrunner has shown more kindness in one line of a book than I’ve seen with Tyrande in the past few years.
Again, not asking for a saint, but of the few interactions we do get with Tyrande there is a reason why folks didn’t like the direction she was headed. They complained she was too dependent on malfurion. Her interaction during Val’sharah was a mess. Where are the gentle sides? Where?
I must have missed them because heck, out of all of the characters on both factions, Tyrande is just not fun. Like she can still be strong, I’m not suggesting she can’t be strong. But why is she so one dimensional now? Look at Jaina and Sylvanas. We’ve seen them do horrible things. But again… Sylvanas waved to an Orc family and Jaina makes ice cream for kids. It shows they’re more than just fighters.
I just wish they explored Tyrande more. They did it a bit in the novel and I’m hoping in Shadowlands they’ll continue with the progress they started in the novel. I think Maiv struck a cord with Tyrande and I hoping they make her kinder. Because as of late I haven’t seen it.
This is not true at all. It’s like you’ve never read any of the books. Even recently as Elegy she is doing this.
The irony of this…
the wota novel was…bad, really bad, in my eyes. So lets agree to disagree, the originaly war was much more cruel and much more epic.
its even weakened their warrior race status and descripted them as some kind of hippies…so pls, read again, it was really disgracefull to read.
maybe it is because…its exist not that classical “priesty” theme in the night elf sociaty. Their priests are warrior aswell, elune priests are warriorpriests, not light priests, and it is good so. And its exist enough moments of Tyrandes Kindness.
I’ve read the books, apologies for forgetting the exact contents of a five page short story, which was again a flip from how she acted in-game while in Val’sharah in the expansion prior to that story.
I wish they didn’t use a stable of writers for their characters. That’s the crux of the issue. You had xenophobic archer priestess Tyrande in WC3 asking thrall what he is.
Then they had Knaak write a trilogy which was a complete 180 from how Tyrande acted in WC3 befriending an orc… also having Night Elves build statues of said orc. So it seems they go back and forth on how they want the character to act. They need some central thought because their characters sway too much depending on who is holding the pen.
I understand they’re warrior priests. But on screen in the game, she’s been so warrior focused, even prior to events at TeldrassiI. I believe Tyrande will be in the Night Fae quest in Shadowlands so I hope to see her perhaps not be so warrior focused as that’s a place of healing.
I understand it’s hard to get into detail with such a wide cast of characters in the game. But given that Night Elves make up such a large percentage of the playerbase, I wish they spent more time with Tyrande. Maybe I’m not seeing it because they don’t have enough time to focus on those little things. Given that Anduin is the lead, maybe that’s why he always gets to have those moments or Jaina as well.
Just seems like a wasted opportunity the only time we get to see Tyrande is when something happens where she needs to act like a warrior. Unless I missed a quest or something.
go visit legion, there you will meet the kindly tyrande in Val’Sharrah
She was rather rude when I quested with her back then. Especially when we went looking for Malfurion. Quite demanding of me too lol.
how was THAT rude? She litteraly told you how intense she miss her husband…and how often she visit him. She told you privat things of her own thougths, and that is rude?? HOW?!
Sorry I was recalling the beta quest lines. Those were very rude. They toned them down, I went and reread the quest on wowhead. She did tone it down near the end of the quest line.
In the beta version she came off as hostile, especially toward horde players. Which was understandable I guess, but still after rereading it you were right she was kind toward the end. I’ll have to go revisit the zone to refresh my memory come shadowlands on a new toon.
Ok I’ll take my leave, I’m at two strikes now, lost to both Zahirwrite and Faranoth. Thanks for refreshing my memory with those bits of information.
But I’m still hoping they swing Tyrande back in Shadowlands with the Night Fae quest line. I’m sure I’ll see her on my Nightborne priest.
This feels like it was written by a 12 year old, made me chuckle.
Lol. I’m not sure Sylvanas is a good example of a character that isn’t one-dimensional.
Yeah, I’m actually shocked by the claim that Tyrande of all people is one-dimensional. That too with Sylvanas as the comparison.
I hope tyrande will remain as badass warrior priest with and without nightwarrior blessing
In character for WC3 Tyrande. Not WoW Tyrande where Blizzard has been trying to turn her into a incompetent housewife with empty nest syndrome.
Don’t get me wrong, I like WC3 Tyrande. I’d just like them to make up their mind on which tyrande they want and stick with it.
So do what was working? “None of you Void Elves on Quel’Danas.” By now Umbric and his lot have effectively proven the void can be used safely and responsibly. Granted I’m 110% sure that’s only because they’re Alliance. Doesn’t make what they do any less evil, but they are responsible.
Once again, you can thank the Alliance for securing it and cleansing it anytime now.
Talking from atop that high horse again. Never change alliance MHPs, never change.
It would seem Ben finally met his match. Let them fight.
We get it Ben… You are a narcissistic detractor, and the only way you can uplift your fragile ego is by putting down and nay saying other people.
Take a break, would ya man? This isn’t healthy. You need to take some time to yourself maybe? Really figure yourself out, talk to someone maybe. I worry about you.
