So they put an item into the new zone, the Misc Mechanica, which can be used to buy mounts and pets.
They then make the drop rate of these items extremely small.
And to cap it off, they don’t make the pets and mounts BoP. So you can sell them.
Naturally, people who have farmed them successfully are selling these items for outrageous amounts, and Im sitting here shaking my head in admiration of this insane decision. Is it a gold sink? I guess, although some people with $$ to spend can probably buy tokens to use to buy one. Is it a way to sell Tokens? See above thought so yes, possibly. Is it another grind to make people do certain things over and over again in the hope of finding these difficult items to either have the things for themselves or sell them for gold? Quite probably.
Is it all entirely voluntary? Of course it is. Does it suck vacuum? Indeed it does. Good job, Blizz.

You need 75 of these things to buy the 3 mounts off the vendor. 75. Meanwhile I have done literally everything in the Undermine every single day since it launched and have a grand total of…wait for it…11. That’s without mentioning the pets and toys.
The worst part? This isn’t the first time they’ve pulled this. Anyone remember these insanely rare things from SL? https://www.wowhead.com/item=184304/anima-touched-weapon-fragments. I never was able to get enough of them for the stupid mog recolours they unlocked and I played all of SL!
That’s 11 more than I’ve seen. Granted, I’ve only done the campaign and a smattering of World Quests over the last few weeks. But even still, if it wasn’t for GD, I’d have no idea this item/currency even exists.
I have 2 on the account. Admittedly I have not been insanely grinding stuff; I had one of them before I even knew what they were. I kept it because it looked like it might be something important. I came by that idea from the day I fished up an old white item called a Broken Wine Bottle. Was about to toss it out at the vendor when I happily looked it up first and was shocked to find it was an very rare mog item and actually worth a boatload of gold. Ever since then I’ve always been a bit of a hoarder of apparently junky things. 
From what I can gather from other peoples experience with this stupid currency, I’ve actually been quite lucky in obtaining the amount that I do have. Most people have around 5 or so. So I’m ahead of the curve in that respect and I still don’t have enough for even 1 of the 3 vendor mounts.

I don’t do these things but even if i was interested i wouldn’t do it because i’m not playing dancing monkey for Blizzard. If they want to have you do stuff to collect X new currency then have it drop at a reasonable rate, otherwise don’t bother me.
If no one does the content they will up the drop rate and it really is just that simple. Or they will say something like “oh we found X bug” that was preventing this item from dropping at the intended rate or some derivation of that statement. Yea, glad i don’t do that garbage personally but good luck with it.

Miscellaneous mechanica reminds me of FLCL.
I have 3 of the mechanica, didn’t know what they were for. I also only have 8 of the shards for Alunira despite doing things daily in Dornogol. Argh.

That is actually pretty lucky. I’ve gotten 3. At this point I’m not even going to bother trying to grind these, the drop rate is insanely low even for Blizzard. They could triple the drop rate and it would still be too low.

Yes it is very unfortunate. However Blizzard does eventually listen to the playerbase and i bet if folks just didn’t do content, they either wouldn’t bother making that type of content OR they would improve it because if folks aren’t doing content they like (no matter what it is) then the game will die.
Being that WoW is their really only IP that is in relatively good shape as far as a strong playerbase, it is fairly important to keep the players happy.
However, if folks keep playing slop and treadmill nonsense for not very compelling rewards…then they will keep putting it out there. There is a happy medium, at least that is how i see it.
Then again, what do i know, i’m an altaholic so i play the leveling experience (in PvP) 60+ times per expansion. Just goes to show what i know.
I have 940 mounts. I have jumped through a lot of stupid hoops to get them. These 3 are a hard and permanent nope. They are junk recolor crap, not at all worth a second look.
I’ve been running through Undermine content on multiple characters and have no idea what this thing even is. I’ve never seen such a thing drop. And I need 75 of them?

I have been playing and doing everything in Undermine for 2 weeks, I literally have like 90% of achievements if not more in the zone
I have seen 1 drop so far.
And yet weekly patch drops and it’s not got that in there whatsoever. What a shame to trade availability with BoE status. (as in they make it super hard to get cause it’s tradeable)
