Hello,
Does anyone remember the days of Yore when mirror images used to be potent? Now, Torghast images are just chef’s kiss sublime. I understand we can’t have that incantation for balance sakes, but they desperately need a buff.
-
Their HP of 10% of caster HP is laughable. They can get one-shot by mobs, and even players.
-
They are not immune to AoE, because an AoE attack will instantly kill all three of them and you’re left there, wasting a global cooldown and 3 minute CD for just giggles.
-
They do no damage, and are mind-numbingly stupid – like, Heroes of the Storm AI stupid.
My suggestions are pretty clear, the ROI on a 3 minute cool down should be pretty significant. If they are meant to hold aggro, then they desperately need protection against one-shot mechanics and a major health buff.
– Increase their health to 100% of players’ health or 10 attacks, whichever comes first.
– Increase their damage and allow them to cast from their caster’s respective school of magic (arcane blast + barrage; frost bolt + ice lance; fireball + fireblast).
Just some thoughts. Just such a disappointing ability to use, because they die so quickly. The treants, wolves, tigers and all other pet summons put these little sexy versions of you to shame.

I’d take 100 extra stamina over mirror images.
Fingers crossed that they eventually figure out how terrible that ability is.

So stupid we have to take them for Cyro freeze… what a complete waste

Well you didnt mention their main purpose, Its a 20% dmg taken defensive. They only fade if you take direct dmg. You pop them during aoe so they last the entire time.
Use them as a mitigation. The dmg they do is mostly cosmetic.

I agree, that is potent, but a shield wall on a 3 minute cd that instantly gets gibbed because of an AoE, or a mongoloid melee just swinging their sword/axe in the air wildly – is not a good ability. It needs some rework.
Cleave abilities will one shot them. The fact that they draw aggro, but can’t take the punishment, seems very silly. So, I just thought either buffing their damage and health, or just straight up buff their health so they can sustain larger hits.
They serve their purpose which is damage mitigation. We have enough crowd control where we hardly need them as a taunt.
I honestly would like to have a conversation with the dev who decided to make mirror images a 20% wall when the spells flavor had nothing to do with defensive other than how it used to drop target.

Mine were just disappearing when I was attacked today – and I mean all of them just vanished. The didn’t fade one by one when I was hit… Maybe a bug dueling in Vladrakken?
2 minutes for 20% mit is pretty meh. They do have long duration, in theory, but they usually vanish much quicker even without direct hits. And it solo content they’ll only last for 3 hits since they have no health
Look for example at Barskin - 20% on 12s duration and 1 min cd. + it applies barrier with talent
Astral shift - either 55% 8s duration and 2min cd or 40% 12s duration with 1,5min cd
Warlock strength of will 40% with 3min cd or 25% with 2.3 min cd also gives immunity to silence&interrupts which are casted a lot in dungeons - 8s duration
And none of those can be removed in pve from caster
Though shadow priest doesn’t even have a defensive cd that mitigates damage (cloud is more of an iceblock type)
fade is a 10% wall for 10s on a 20s cd
oh, yeah, forgot about that one. 10% isn’t much, but atleast uptime is high
I pop Mirror Images all the time in M+ to mitigate damage… It’s a must for a lot of mechanics/boss fights especially as keys get higher. I like the defensives we have - Mirror Images, Greater Invis, Alter Time, Ice Barrier for Frost, I just wish they had a separate GCD from offensive spells or were off the GCD like Shimmer… because a lot of times the window to use them is like 1.5s and I get GCD locked and pop them right after the damage hits instead of just before.
Images insta-dying to AOE is definitely trash - they were way better in Shadowlands than they are right now. Not sure who made that decision (probably the same person who made Reduplication/Reabsorption talents) or why that decision was made… It’s almost like Mage was intentionally nerfed to prop up Evoker.
The Reduplication/Reabsorption talents should have instead been used to make Mirror Images more offensive or double down on the defensive capabilities. Instead we get minor CD reduction and minor healing but only if they die from direct damage… Not sure if AOE counts as direct? But I don’t think it does? Which is always what kills them (if they die)…
