Mirror Images casting frostballs in Shadowlands

Title, even if you are a fire mage, your mirror images are constantly casting frostballs, that personally ruins my spec fantasy.
¿Does anyone else find it odd?
I would very much prefer if they cast fireballs.
Call me crazy, but that change can really make me reroll in Shadowlands.
¿What do you guys think?

Mirror images have always been that way, not that I particularly liked it. You do get the benefit of the frostbolt slow for pvp, although I don’t know if that’s currently the case in beta.

They’ll probably put the glyph back in that allows your MI to cast spec-specific spells like they had before. You know Blizzard, give you what you don’t want and remove what you do.

Not true, currently they cast Fireballs if you’re fire and Arcane Blast if you’re arcane.

It slows your targets down AND give a damage reduction. Screw the immersion lol. Do you not use frost nova for the utility?

Untrue. All specs cast frostbolt now. This is a good change tbh, it’s great having MI passively slow your target so you can run.

Makes sense. It’s a defensive CD now. The slow from the frost bolts accentuates that nicely.

Not sure how it destroys the spec fantasy: we have access to spells from all three schools in SL. It doesn’t impact spec identity anymore than all 3 specs having Frost Nova does imo.

Agreed. And who wants MI to cast arcane blast anyways? You literally can’t hardly notice the spell vs frostbolt which looks great

I was talking retail as of “currently”, so it is true.

I noticed this too and it really breaks my immersion. I loved the introduction in Legion to my Mirror Image finally casting the same spec spell as me. I want a wall of flames when I cast MI as a Fire Mage. It looks cool and there’s no reason why it can’t still retain the slow effect with the fire effect look.

I’m not sure why you would, it would still do like no dmg and at least the frostbolts slow.
