I’m confused by the current mining system. I’m getting back into WoW after around 10 years of not playing, so the last expansion I bought was The Mists of Pandaria. The professions tab shows that I’m maxed out at Pandaren mining, so I went to the mining trainer in Orgrimmar to learn mining there as well, but nothing happened. There’s no gauge for Cataclysm mining, so I don’t know if mining in Orgrimmar is doing anything. Supposedly, my mining level in Classic WoW is increasing, whatever that’s suppose to mean.
I’m guessing it’s good to learn all the different types of mining so I can mine the minerals that came with each expansion, but does the gauge matter? Am I suppose to unlearn Pandaren mining to level up other mining types? What’s the point of mining levels these days? And is it worth it to smelt if I’m only collecting just to sell at the auction house?
