Mining/Skinning or Mining/Engineering while leveling?

Starting out on a warrior. Got a few friends playing with me so we should be able to run lots of dungeons easily. I was full go to go engineering so I could have access to bombs and gadgets asap since I’m on a PvP server, but I’m worried I won’t be able to afford my mount at 40 with this being my initial toon. I didn’t have to worry about this when I originally played vanilla as I was a pally back then and got the mount for free. Is it going to be a lot harder to afford the mount if I take engineering while leveling?

There will be a difference for sure. I’m going engineering once I get my mounts. You can find guides online on how much of each material to save from mining to get 300 engineering, that way you can start selling once you get x amount of materials you need

It probably will be. You’re not going to be able to sell much of your engineer items. Most your gold can probably come from ores or smelting…but that’s not going to happen until the economy is established. I would take skinning/mining while leveling. That way, you can at least sell the skins to have a little bit of income

Getting your mount should be priority over bombs for pvp, especially since there’s no honor in phase 1

I notice that the leather you get from skinning sells for very little to vendors, and im sure the AH will be flooded with supply. I personally don’t think skinning is worth, will just take up bag space to sell 2 silver worth of light leather and ruined leather scraps after 30 kills.

That’s a great point. You’ve convinced me to go skinning.
