Mining nodes are now almost non existent. I have been able to play all afternoon and have maybe found 5 nodes.
Odd I’m always running into them and see em on the mini map
People must be busy mining out there

So I checked and there’s nothing wrong. Mining nodes everywhere as usual. OP, I think you might be imagining things or dealing with bots.
Nodes feel like they respawn a lot quicker than in previous expansions.
One QoL fix I’d like to see is not letting nodes despawn once it’s tagged.

If you are on the same path as another gatherer, they might be getting the nodes ahead of you just far enough that they are despawning before you get to them. Change directions, speed up, or check a different zone.

This expansion has the easiest chilliest mining (and herbing) I can remember, so … maybe OP needs to use an alt on a less busy server.
are you using the Phial of Truesight?
They respawn so fast that bots have taken to just hovering over a spawn point on a steady flight mount instead of flying around.
If you are gathering for long periods of time. You may want to consider the potion of truesight. Which shows many more nodes that are hidden.
Wait, what? Hidden nodes?
Yeah, there are special nodes that are labeled Camouflaged that you can only see while using that potion. I was flying around a bit yesterday with my priest mining them because I just learned about it and made the potion on my alchemist.
Well, I’m eating dinner and trying that out.
It’s all I can do to concentrate on questing… oh look, something else … and on it goes
Yeah i find more herb nodes than ore lately, could it be bots farming metals or like most people lately picking mining for some reason or another? If the former it’s always hilarious seeing a bot try to farm the explosive nodes and see them get torn to shreds by them… rare to see but always amusing
You may be playing in a high traffic area.
Sometimes when collecting herbs, I realise I’m on the tail of someone taking the same route who is just ahead and the herbs just haven’t respawned yet. Try waiting a bit, then continuing on or, head off to another path 
Also make sure you use your phial of truesight at all times!
this is the most common, if you catch a node dissapearing as you are gathering or just going away as you get there, do like the man said and change directions or go “one node ahed”
