Nothing in the description makes any promises that you will fall to your death while mining either…yet here we are.
Yeah, this is an incredibly stupid development. I’m hoping this is a bug that they are working to fix. You can’t give something to players and then take it away without so much as a mention without risking losing your playerbase. This is the only game I play where it feels like the development team tries to actively annoy and troll their players. The claim that they have a new mindset, “Respect the players time” and then make small changes that directly contradict that is mind-boggling. I know this is a small thing but it was a much appreciated and loved new feature of dragonflight and for it to be removed in practice while still maintaining that it exists in the profession specialization tree is simply disrespectful to the players. I sincerely hope that this was not intentional in which case I apologize for this rant but if this is, as I fear, intentional, it might be time to consider playing other games where the development team stand by their word.
If it is a change, was it in the patch notes somewhere? I dont read em, but one of you must read it all!
Bugs still present. Please fix! Ty
Same issue. Frustrating as heck. Hover mining was fantastic in the Zaralek and almost the only way to get draconium there. Glad I discovered the bug in the Emerald Dream or I would probably have died. I hope Blizzard corrects this or at least posts what the intent was. No dismount while mining is no dismount while mining. Not no dismount while landed next to node and mining. If I wanted that, I would use my Sky Golem.
Issue is still present after that random update the other night, so it still hasn’t been addressed. One of two things needs to happen.

If intentional, then it needs to be made where you can’t click a node while flying, hence dismounting you and likely killing you AND any points put into the Mining Spec need to be refunded so they can be reallocated. - The excuse of “being able to mine while hovering was unintentional” is BS given it was that way on the PTR and has remained that way since the induction of mining spec system. If it was unintentional, how did it make it through testing and remained in-game for so long without be addressed? No one allocating points into had any reason to believe it was not working as intended for those very reasons.

If unintentional, then it needs to be fixed sooner rather than later, as most of us are tired of falling to our death.
how can this thing even be intentional. You can do in other expansions. Like, bfa had mining enchantment for gloves that allowed you to hover over nodes.
If it’s intentional it’s a fun killer. Like, WHY.
Been noticing this since 10.2 (even before the 10.2.5 patch). It’s inconsistent, sometimes it works, but not working more that it working. but being where everything is now, it’s unlikely to be looked into.
So typical, I need not say more
