Mining in Winterspring, for Sane People

Winterspring is a mess, especially on PvP servers. That said, bypassing all group work with mining and a bit of solo farming can a fun option, granted it works best with some raid gear and max speed riding+walking from enchants, plus mit gear and bandages as well depending on your class. Anyway, for less mess and more farm when mining in Winterspring solo simply follow these steps:

1.) No one goes in the yeti caves of Ice Thistle Hills because no one has a reason to kekkerinos - but seriously there’s a RTV and an STV/Truesilver vein in there. Mosey on in, wade through the car accident of yetis and mine some ore; be sure to keep going until you find the RTV as it can spawn relatively anywhere inside. Yeti slaps will take a little off your durability but you shouldn’t wind up looking like Luke, and any yetis you’re forced to slay might drop Juju Guiles which are actually remotely useful for mitigation tanks.

2.) Poke your head in Winterfall Village. There’s often a group from at least one faction in there, either farming mobs on the inside as they kill time before the chieftain respawns or just doing pvp things. Make a break for any ore you find, and if there’s a number of furbolgs still wandering around on the outside or on top of the hill by Ice Thistle feel free to clear them as well so long as the pvp isn’t too hot.

3.) Make your way down to Weenie Hut Jr.'s, a.k.a. Owl Wing Thicket. An RTV spawns in a random upper cave.

3a.) If the Moonkin village is occupied by a green-geared mage that is definitely just farming for their epic mount using snap reflexes and nothing else and there just so happens to be no RTV, go check Frostwhisper Gorge instead. There’s a safe spot to fall down incrementally to the left, and if there’s a friendly multiboxer clearing giants that’s also potentially a plus. If you don’t find any RTVs down there then oh well; you can logout in a corner down there and try your luck again later. Just watch out for the enemy faction or falling haphazardly as it’s a long way back from Everlook Cemetery.

4.) Logout where you are for 40+ minutes, then repeat the steps in reverse order.

4a.) If you feel like killing some time in WoW between spawns then continue to farm furbolgs wherever you can manage; an RTV spawns by the road on the way to the other Winterfall villages in the west from Everlook. Alternatively, check Frostwhisper Gorge for a group of Brazilians farming giants instead of multiboxers and offer to join them. One might ask you for a duel; say yes. If you win it’s a nice ego boost and they’ll still tell you good fight and bandage you up if needed. As a last alternative, if it’s prime time on your overpopulated server and you’re a weenie, farm in Weenie Hut Jr.'s yourself as the owl eggs are worth something and most of the grays they drop will net you some gold as well; the jujus can also be neato for solo content if you’re a caster.

That’s it, my 40 minutes are up - time to get back at it. Ooh, lucky me! An RTV spawned where I logged out. It may not offer the most gold per second possible in Classic, but the old fashioned way is still pretty fun. Happy mining, y’all! Don’t get frostbite!
