What are the best mining tools, profession accessories, enchants, gear, etc? I tend to do a lot of mining in Classic areas, but also some in the new expansion.

I don’t think the TWW mining tool and accessories have any impact on mining in classic areas - where it will depend on your skill in classic mining.
In terms of tools and accessories for TWW mining there are three gathering statistics - finesse, perception and deftness in addition to skill.
For mining accessories you have no choice about their statistics - they are set.
For the mining tool you can use an inscription crafted item to set the statistic to finesse, perception or deftness and in addition you can enchant the tool with one of those statistics (you cannot enchant accessories).
In terms of what the statistics do…
- Skill (mining level plus also gets increased in some knowledge trees - the rare tools give you more mining skill as well as better stats) - increased skill increase the chances of higher ranked ore (rank 1, rank 2, rank 3)
- Finesse increases the chances of getting more ore when it procs.
- Perception increases the chances of getting more null stones when you get them.
- Deftness increases the speed that you mine a node.
People usually choose between perception and finesse.
