Are you aware of concentration?
It’s a new thing for crafters that allows them to craft something in their next rank of quality 100%. So I didn’t think this would be a problem.
Also, for that sole purpose of getting skills they have added npc crafts orders.
This! Basically people are completely missing the point of public orders. it’s not so you can get your highest-level craft. It’s so that crafters can level their professions at all, since there are no longer crafting options for skill-up to max unless you craft soulbound items.
I really get what you’re sayn right now and I agree with everything.
But, we know that a system like that isn’t coming anytime soon.
The closest to It would be the public orders.
And believe me when I say that there will still be players looking for crafters in chat, Just because they would want the craft done as soon as possible.
Concentration allows you to craft at the next rank. So a low skill crafter that is still in the r2 range can only craft at r3 at the most until he gains either more skill or knowledge.
Npc orders are not known to me yet but if they are in limited supplies, crafter will still depend on public orders.
You just ignore those…
So, they implemented NPC craft orders to fill this gap for players trying to increasce theyr skills.
Allas, the way that is now, no one is sending orders to get garbage level itens, it’s Just a waste.
So players are still not getting these points even If it stays the way it is now
Ion’s claim was that the intent was to match those that don’t care about quality (just need a piece of gear with certain stats in a slot) with those that are just trying to level up their crafting skill (not necessarily looking for a profit like individual crafters in Trade Chat). He further stated that if they allowed quality on public orders, all those placing orders would just require Rank 5.
I don’t agree with Ion’s premise… maybe it serves a very minor percentage, but most wanting to spend their R3 mats and gold tip DO want Rank 5. Subsequently, I think the public system should allow a quality spec.
At least they’re making it easier for crafters to fulfill orders with an NPC for the crafting weekly quest (so you don’t have to make an alt just to fill your own orders), but there’s still room improvements to crafting and quality on public orders is one of those.
I agree with your disagreement. This idea would make sense if the quantity of orders placed by people who don’t care about quality matched the amount of orders filled by people who are ranking up, but I don’t think this is true. First of all, people who don’t care if their gear randomly ends up 6 ilvl less or more are probably not interested in crafting gear for themselves in the first place. On the other hand, it takes a lot of crafting to get to consistent r5. I think probably many more people are interested in making those “who cares” quality items than people are interested in paying for.
