Minimum ilvl for 2v2?

My ilvl is 182, sv hunter.

I feel I am not strong enough.

what do you think is the minimum ilvl for 2v2?

I’ll say 200, but even that is too low nowdays.

225 to get past 1200 apparently

Yeah I’d agree, 200 is bare minimum.

Even that, as you mention, is a bit undergeared. But not enough so that you can’t outplay the difference in gear IMO.

I would just grab a mix of the 197 renown gear and the 197 honor gear and once you get that all set up you should be alright. Plus the few pieces of conquest gear you can grab right now.

200 is low for SV sadly. :frowning:

Hunter’s are very gear dependent sadly. That said, this is all relative to the rating you want to earn. If your aim is 1400-1600, 190-200 is fine. If you want to push to 1800, I’d say most players would need to be 205-210 or higher. I was 2k earlier in the seasons and recently tanked down helping someone… the grind back to 2k has been seriously painful.

I have been playing with the same friend since wrath and we have been 2200-2300 multiple times in 2s playing disc/hunter. 1800 has been an absolute task. Nothing has changed relative to how we approach the game. I just don’t have enough damage to close the deal. Too much healing these days. Most specs don’t have this issue.

I hit 1250 on my 170ilvl aff lock playing double deeps with almost all rank 4 honor gear and no legendary. Funny thing is that I constantly face mythic geared players at this mmr. Just makes me want to leave the moment I see anyone with more than 32k hp cuz its a total uphill battle and I almost never win. :frowning:

The basic idea is to have at least 40khp minimum to even think about trying to push some rating

Gear is really important, but I wouldn’t agree with a mindset of only doing arena after a certain ilvl threshold is met. Play, learn, and get the conquest and honor from arena as it will be much faster than doing it through random BG’s. However if you can do Rated BG’s then that would be the best method. The biggest thing is psychological where it can be upsetting to lose games, have partners call you trash, get declined from 90% of invites, etc. A lot of people can’t handle that very well but it’s entirely up to you on how much you let that kind of thing affect you.

If you want to play a D tier spec like Survival, you need to be like 220. Mage, Ret, and HPal don’t need too much gear I’d say 190 because they’re mechanically broken. All other decent specs should be around 205.

It’s rather masochistic to even step foot in arena below ilvl 200+ right now, having just been playing an alt in the 158 - 188 range this past week. 188 is still way too weak, nearly 10k HP below most players.

The honor grind in SL is honestly pretty atrocious.

If you go in undergeared and play a bunch of matches with a losing win rate you can dig yourself a pretty deep hole to try to get out of later (unless you buy a carry, of course).

There really is no room to dip your toes into the pool, so to speak.

You need to get to around 200 item level (best you can do without doing raids or mythics) to increase the chance you don’t get permastuck at low rating (without buying a carry, of course).

I’m just talking about an entry-experience player here.

When I started at 180 to now at 197, I went from abysmal to dismal.

I stopped dying in one hit to dying in two.

Doing only PvP how can you get past 200? You can’t upgrade until you get 1400 which people here are saying you need to be 225+ for? wtf…

Hmmm yeah that’s a good point actually. Really wish all gear scaled to max ilvl in PvP. I see zero reason for this problem to even exist.

Honestly, 215+ is where you need to be.

You just need to be more crafty. Did you know that hunter’s mark allows you to see a target that a rogue shadow duels? Give it a try, you will beat teams that have better gear than you.

It’s really not that bad tbh.

It’s just like it was in mop - you tank enough and you can then just win based on the atrocious play of sub 1k mmr teams.

I geared a rogue legit losing 50ish games on purpose to get as low as possible, than spam winning to get the cq.

It wasn’t hard to get to even 1400 after, just need to actually win consistently.

I was queuing a fair amount of games with an undergeared priest healer and we often ran into teams with people 25-27k health.

It’s doable. Easier in 3s if you can setup and have good partners.

Uh…a lot of fat druids posting today I see.

For pushing over 1600 probably? Still not necessary below that, although it will eventually be as the season goes on and the overall playerbase is more geared with alts and new players still starting in the basement.
