What is the bare minimum item level that casual pick-up groups will take a player with this season?

For raiding? 680, but that doesn’t mean they’ll keep you after a few bosses.
If you aren’t confident in your performance then 690/700 will give you more room to breathe.
Every week I’d probably raise that number by 5, until pugs are eventually looking for people to be >700 for just normal.
You can definitely get into stuff at <680 currently but even now they’re flooded with people fully geared in mythic dungeon/raid finder/starter m+ and it will only become more common as the weeks progress. Its not necessarily about being the ilvl necessary for the content, but the ilvl necessary to show that you’ve kept up with the grind for however long the seasons been active.
If all you do is pug don’t expect “realistic” expectations of ilvl:content difficulty after the first month.
