Right, but you don’t just create the number of bracket slots by taking the percentiles and multiplying them by the total participants. That doesn’t happen. The percentiles add up to more than 100% if you do it that way, so the way the system works is by subtracting the total number of the higher bracket slots from the lower bracket slots.
Let me explain. Go all the way down to Bracket 13 (second lowest bracket). That is the top 84.5% of honor earners.
167 * 0.845 = 141
Now do Bracket 12. Top 69.7%
167 * 0.697 = 116
But wait, 116 + 141 > 167. That’s not possible.
There can’t be more Bracket 12 and 13 slots than total participants combined!
So what the brackets ACTUALLY look like with 167 is this:
