Mind Soothe

Who is exciting for Mind Soothe! I know I am. I hope it can be used to give us some more utility in Mythic+ so that maybe we can use it to skip a few groups every now and then. At the very least it lets us pretend to be a rogue during collection quests.

Just for those who have forgotten here is what Mind Soothe used to do:

Mind Soothe
90 Mana 40 yd range
Soothes the target, reducing the range at which it will attack you. Only affects Humanoid targets. Lasts 15 sec.

Hopefully we can also use it on angry allies to calm them down too. We would be required in Dungeon Finder!

It should remove enrage effects. I mean, it’s in the name. Overall pretty disappointed with the proposed priest changes (especially Holy), but an ACTUAL soothe effect (not the old mind soothe, which was a meme) would go a long way.

will make skips easier in m+, questing will be easier i guess if you don’t want the adds

Yea, I agree. They put minimal effort into priests and put even less effort into holy. I know it’s early and holy really isn’t bad but I was very disappointed we got mind soothe and they skipped over pw: shield given our lack of mobility, utility, and HoTs I think a small amount of damage mitigation would be pretty useful for M+.

Holy has Power Infusion now too right? I think Holy has gotten a lot that could boost it in mythic+: Power Infusion, Mind Soothe maybe allowing a skip, More damage thanks to Shadow spells, more mobility thanks to baseline circle of healing and instant prayer of mending.

Someone mentioned most mobs will be undead in dungeons. Heres hoping between shackle undead and mind sooth well be able to skip some trash.

Power infusion is nice too.

I might be excited to check out holy again

I think Mind Soothe has its niche uses in Classic - I’m doubtful about Mind Soothe in retail, given its limitations to specific types, only 1 unit (when retail has favored large packs of late) and the mere range limitation vs. say, total blindness or dazing.

So no, not excited for them digging up the corpse of Mind Soothe for a game no longer designed to take advantage of it in 99% of situations.

On the positive side it won’t pull aggro if it resists… since it can’t resist/miss in retail.

Haha, that is true - base 6% resist isn’t a thing.

But still, we can’t pretend that we’re playing Classic anymore, there are so many changes we don’t need the Classic version of Mind Soothe for nostalgia’s sake, we need a version that’ll work in modern mythic+, and that certainly requires changes.

Yeah I was kind of hoping for an AOE Mind Soothe that had a longish cooldown. Basically a mini shroud that let you skip one pack.

if only it worked in PvP

‘Players cannot target the Priest for 15secs’

Always LOVED Mind Soothe. I remember when people used to make fun of it as being useless, and there I was getting my quests done a lot faster than other priests. Or, better yet, skipping trash in dungeons like you mention.

I can’t wait to see how the other Holy changes play out.
