Hi Everyone just a quick question about shadowpriest rotation. Should mind blast be casted to the point where you have no charges left to generate more insanity for devouring plague?
I feel like this gives me more dps but it could be a dps loss.
I personally cast Mind Blast when it’s off CD and save the instant cast proc one for Mind Flay because you can cast it in the middle of your channel for extra damage/insanity generation.
Each cast of Mind Blast triggers your Shadowy Apparitions and crits trigger two of them so it’s a solid dps increase over a full cast Mind Flay.

never let it get to 2, it’s meant to be flexible so you don’t have to interrupt mind flay. That’s why the 2mb belt in legion was an op leggo.
But in legion (and BfA for that matter) we had a set rotation. Now we have more of a priority list. I’ve really only been casting blast when I don’t have anything else. I think keeping dots up, DP when ready, and VB on cooldown are all higher priority than MB. I totally could be wrong though, and actually haven’t really taken spirits into account, that’s just the way it feels to me. Best case scenario though is that MB is higher in priority only to Flay…everything else comes first. But like I said I could be wrong, I still haven’t fully gotten the hang of the new playstyle
We def did not have a set rotation in legion, it was always priority. It feels better now than then.
Idk if you say so, I think the 1min cycle in legion felt waaaay better than what it is now. But to each his own.
it was always void torrent when up, mb or death borefore 2 stack, keep dots up, mind flay filler. Same thing it feels like to me. Just less void form and no torrent, and death is a dead button,
Ive been casting it pretty much when there is no priority but flay or sear. Seems like the proc rate on flay and sear is so low anyway that I might as well cast one than to try and fish for a free proc
I’m using it on cooldown whenever I can, unless I can start a mind flay with a “Dark Thought” to case while channeling. Hitting for about 2.1k on average.

1)Vampiric Touch
2)Devouring Plague
3)Mind Blast
4)Shadow Word: Pain
5a)Mind Flay or
5b)Mind Sear @ 3+ targets
With void form active your priority becomes:
1)Void Bolt
2)Devouring Plague
3)Mind Blast
4)Mind Flay
Mind Blast is important, but should only come after VT is already on all your targets, Void Bolt is on CD (if in Void Form), and you won’t cap insanity from the MB cast. Iirc the current theory is that its not worth keeping VT on more than 7 targets, just as a side note.
