Only two expansions in WoW’s history have provided neither a new race (yes allied races count) or class, and they both have easily cited reasons/excuses that have followed their reputations through the years. Midnight is a hype machine built on “everyone loves X,” being billed very easily as an all-timer, and has no excuse to follow WoD or Shadowlands into race/class-less infamy, (no, housing doesn’t create a basis for permission) so what’s it going to be?
A class feels more likely but I could see either or even both happening (unless you’re keen to hear “hero talents counted as classes”… I’m not), but what do you think?
Here’s the one overarching parameter I feel pretty confident about: we will never again see a new “rig” for a race expected to have full and fully retroactive transmog capability. I could see either “that’s clearly using [insert older race here]’s rig” races or extremely transmog-limited “out there” body types, possibly with shapeshifting involved like Dracthyr, but I don’t see “new rig, fully retroactive transmog capability” happening ever again. It’s just not effort-economical, and that factor is everything for modern WoW.
What do I want? An alliance elven paladin option. Pointy eared stormwind humans don’t count. Whether we get high elves or a formal “half elf” like Arator, I want that alliance elf paladin.
Class wise? I’m drawing a blank. World soul song bard? I dunno. Would “all races, all classes RIGHT NOW” satisfy me on this front? Yes. See my race request haha.
What do you think? What’s likely? What’s unlikely? What do you want based on what’s likely? What’s your pipe dream Hail Mary request?

I will make the wildest prediction of all…
Since Midnight involves a bunch of Elves, and half of those Elves can be paladins, and a lot of the NPCs are Paladins. I will guess they are unlocking Paladin for all races.

We are now getting the new class Elf, this will be the first class not available to an elf as it will make your selected race half elf. It will have spells like magic missile, be a caster, and proficient in all weapons and armor.

Paladins for every race.
If we are getting a new Allied Race for each faction, probably Ethereals for Alliance and Harranir for Horde. They both are dreadfully boring.

We have worgen already, but maybe we’d get optional tails for worgen.
I would like pally, shammy, and druid unlocked for all races. And monks for dracthyr.

I predict Elk will become a Draenei by Midnight.
My class and race predictions for Midnight are:
- Paladin class becoming available for every playable race.
- Neutral playable Ethereals
- Alliance playable Broken
- Horde playable Forest Trolls

Metzen said it’s about “uniting the elf tribes”, so I suspect we’re seeing both Blood and Void Elves becoming neutral.
Bloody Elves. Like Blood Elves, but heavy Bri’ish accents.

Spot on.
Plus I’d say we’ll see customizations for all elves. Maybe even racial tag options for High Elves, Manari, Darkfallen etc.

At this point, gnome and/or night elf pally are the two race/class combos that would make me honestly try to give the class another look.
And while I typically get the physical CE, if they opened up either combo to folks that pre-ordered, it might actually be the first time I actually pre-order as I can get the price difference back as battle.net balance anyway.

Give the Alliance the (identical to a race they already have) high elves they keep crying about and give the Horde ethereals. The ultimate monkey’s paw.
