Midnight Feedback For Warriors: Fury needs help

Fury has so many issues and concerning points that it needs to have it’s own post otherwise the last post was going to be literally a book.

Fury

Fury is at a really bad spot right now, the spec tree has very strange and confusing talents that I really wonder why they exist:

1.Powerful Enrage doesn’t really have a place for the direction Fury is going anymore, My personal wish and many others are for Blizzard to get the identity of Warriors’ DPS specs right and distinguished; If Arms is supposed to be the slow but hard hitting spec then Fury is supposed to be not as hard hitting but the fast paced and “A Thousand strikes” spec, Frenzied Enrage just works better with this theme and feels nicer to play with aswell.

2.The new Meat Cleaver is nice but there has been some concerns about having to cancelaura the Whirlwind stacks to get the maximum value out of this talent based on the tuning, my suggestion is to simply make Whirlwind stacks not cancelable like some specific buffs and auras that are like this.

3.Rampaging Ruin is quite nice and appreciated because many Fury warrior enjoyers have asked Blizzard to give more forms of Uncapped AoE tools and they’ve definitely delivered BUT, As of right now this talent overrides Rampages’ strikes; So it is really bad performance wise because it’s weaker than a normal Rampage and it becomes “better” at a high amount of AoE targets, Please address this and either make it Stronger or at the same power level of a normal Rampage or make it not override Rampage’s Strikes otherwise I can’t personally think of any use for this talent, Even in M+ we are not always damaging 10+ amount of mobs.

4.These Talents need to be juiced up, This is a matter of tuning but the current value of some of these talents just seem so uninteresting and insignificant such as: Unslaked Thirst, Cold Steel Hot Blood, Ragedrinker, Executioner’s Wrath, Surge of Adrenaline; All these talents have really small value or duration which seem really insignificant and uninteresting compared to some of the Arms talents; Cold Steel Hot Blood needs to be doing more damage on Retail it’s very insignificant, If possible just scrap Rend for Fury and make Cold Steel Hot Blood the star of Bleeds for Fury, Unslaked Thirst and Executioner’s Wrath should have more duration so we can actually get good value from them like 4 seconds is really nothing and sometimes we might not even benefit from them for one gcd; Ragedrinker and Surge of Adrenaline are capstone contenders that don’t really give any value to us, Like I am a fan of inspiring Crit stacking for Fury but the value from this talent is very bad and not a “capstone level” contender, Same thing for Surge of Adrenaline too because auto attacks have been quite irrelevant for Fury since Legion.

5.Fury has suffered from this problem for the entirety of TWW, Like the examples from the former point, Fury has very bad capstone level talents on Retail and on Midnight Alpha as of right now; Kill or be Killed is a cool and appreciated talent but why is it on the spec tree ? It gives almost zero value on PvE scenarios so It should be either on the Class Tree in place of Last Stand or a PvP talent; with the addition of Avatar to Anger management and the removal of the root break from it I have one simple question, Why does Avatar exist as a separate button ? Why not make Recklessness simply do what Avatar does for Mountain Thane and give 20% extra damage done + what Recklessness already does ? We are quite literally going to macro Avatar and Recklessness with each other after this change anyways because why not ? They have the same cd now and Avatar only exists for the sake of bloat, another inconsistency when it comes to the “Great pruning”; Reckless Abandon has become very bad because of the shorter duration Recklessness(no Berserker’s Torment or Depth of Insanity anymore) and with the addition of the apex talents(which I will talk about in a different section) It just has lost so much value and is in dire need of a buff to it in a anyway, It’s designed in a way that really likes and needs a longer than 12 seconds Recklessness to be good so please look into it: Unbridled Ferocity needs some big help, This talent was very good(Perhaps too good) in Dragonflight and it got nuked after TWW changes, It’s very weak and insignificant for a capstone level talent so either redesign it or buff it so it’s actually usable.

6.Apex Talents for Fury are really strange, I am a fan of it being around Recklessness and making Rampage stronger during Recklessness BUT, How the Rampaging Berserker is designed is really awkward; Fury Warrior is already quite a gcd locked and good uptime required spec because of Anger management but now with this new Breath of Sindragosa like mechanic it has become worse, It doesn’t really make Recklessness itself better because It’s something that we have to maintain after Recklessness ends and losing it will feel really bad, In my opinion the buff should be completely redesigned to have a decay mechanic or completely scrap this idea and make something that makes Recklessness actually stronger and interesting.

7.Handle Odyn’s Fury and Bladestorm better this time; Odyn’s Fury and Bladestorm being really good damaged Fury’s tuning so much on the season one of TWW, I am personally a huge fan of them being on a choice node so they can both actually be better and usable, Since Slayer has to take Bladestorm to function and gets empowered by Slayer’s tools, Odyn’s Fury has the opportunity to be tuned better and be exclusive to Thane which leads to better tuning opportunities since it doesn’t have to clash with Bladestorm when it comes to burst damage and balance.

Hero talents

Mountain Thane as a hero talent is really weird, It doubles down on Fury’s classic way to cleave and do AoE damage which is nice but for a hero talent that is supposed to be about The Avatar of the Storm, It doesn’t really empower or make Avatar any more interesting and it massively lacks any good form of exclusive Single target damage which is the main issue of it falling behind Slayer when it comes to Single target damage for the entirety of TWW, the new talents for Mountain Thane are acceptable but one of them doubles down even more on extending and uptime, I would personally like a talent that has some interaction with Odyn’s Fury instead of the talent Conductivity; like Odyn’s Fury grants you Avatar(or Recklessness if they end up removing Avatar and baking it into Recklessness) for 5 seconds, Just make Odyn’s Fury the tool for Mountain Thane because it fits thematic wise and it’s much easier to balance and tune without having to worry about Bladestorm.

The Slayer rework is good and appreciated but Culling Cyclone should be looked at to be either removed or redesigned and Opportunist should be changed for Fury because the stacking function doesn’t really mean anything for Fury while it’s actually significant for Arms.
