… Nightfall was announced within a three expansion announcement.
And trying to correlate an expansion announcement from 2007 to one in 2025 is pretty ingenuine and reaching.
A rumor. Which is a pretty far reaching rumor. Not really based on anything shown or hinted to by Blizzard. If you are going to refer to the survey, then that is pretty thin. I wouldnt mind a new class, but I would not hope for one until The Last Titan at the absolute earliest.
Are you somehow worried that there won’t be raids and dungeons and delves?
They’re not gonna reveal too much story ahead of time, there’s still the remainder of TWW and the Midnight prepatch is where we find out all the ongoing connections. It’s way too early to get antsy about the next expansion.
Midnight will probably be one of the best expansion so far, we’re getting Housing (probably the biggest addition that World of Warcraft ever had, beside maybe LFR), a new adventure featuring fan favorite zone with blood elves and the continuation of an already pretty exciting saga.
I predict Pathfinder in some way or form. itʻs been a staple of WOW retail since WoD. I wonder what sort of twisted interpretation they will try this next time. Pathfinding to unlock special housing features maybe?
While not officially announced, note the 2025 roadmap.
We KNOW housing is a major feature of Midnight, and we KNOW it is tentatively penciled in for just after 11.2.7 in the early winter, ergo that’s lowkey an unofficial announcement of 11.0 being released. Winter officially starts in December, and the systems patch for a new expansion is generally anywhere between 3-6 weeks before the release of said expansion. Also bear in mind that they’ve wanted to quicken the pace of expansion releases for well over a decade, and that they did mention in 2023 that all three Worldsoul Saga expansions were being worked on simultaneously.
Yeah, it’s not much of a leap of logic to assume January/February 2026 at this point barring anything unforeseen, especially since we know when 11.2.7 is dropping, as well as the fact that the X.2.7 patch has officially marked the end of an expansion for at least two consecutive expansions now. As far as the prior examples go:
Shadowlands 9.2.7: Released 8/16/22
Patch 10.0: Released 10/25/22
Dragonflight Launch: 11/28/22
Dragonflight 10.2.7: Released 5/7/24
Patch 11.0: Released 7/23/24
The War Within Launch: 8/26/24
Hell, as 11.2.5 has 21st Anniversary updates, we KNOW that’s going to be October at the earliest. 11.2.7 has to release BEFORE December 21 if they want to meet an Autumn 2025 target for that. Now, I could see 11.0 slip into January but bottom line? I say we’re playing Midnight before March 2026.
Everything you said gives us a decent idea of when the expansion could be released. But, until the official release date has been announced… we can only make educated guesses.
Wrath was the second expansion. The release announcement trailer announced:
Going to Northrend.
Death Knight Hero Class.
Destructible Buildings
Siege Weapons
New Profession: Inscription
Changeable Hairstyles
New Dances
New Quests
New Dungeons
New Monsters
New Items
Level Cap Raised to 80
Arthas
That is the list of things from the announcement trailer. And it was exciting because at the time, the game was still relatively new and anything new added to it was exciting.
We also didnt have an expansion cadence yet for Warcraft Expansion release timelines. They already have said that they were working on WoTLK when TBC was getting made. Wrath of the Lich King was the culmination of the Warcraft III games, which were still, in 2007 immensely popular.
So announcing bare bones features 15 months before the expansion. Vs, what we already know about Midnight is different.
As for wanting more information? I am in the same boat as you. Would love more info.
Just an estimate, as no release date has been formally announced.
