In Midnight, you’ll also be able to join the fray for the first time as a Void Elf Demon Hunter.
It’s kinda hidden in the blue post so I thought I’d point it out individually.

I’m really hoping the pre-order stuff is a counterbalance to how Belf heavy everything is going to be. Please.

They had a new race that was unique and interesting with Ethereals right there and then opted for night elf druids as the new race.

It’s freaking TWW all over again.

I’m kinda irritated they threw void into my perfectly good fel class. I’m sure I’ll get over it if it’s fun, but still.

The allied race kind of sucks. They could have done a bunch of different allied races for the Horde and Alliance but they just made Night Elves 2.

Yeah, I’m not one of the people excited about Haranir. The overlap with Nelves and Trolls means a lot of eating other people’s lunch imo. I fear it will just be Orweyna supplanting Malfurion but otherwise being the basically the same.

Would have been a lot more exciting it they did Earthen for Alliance and Haranir for Horde this expac, but now it just feels odd.

I think I’m the only person on the planet who wants to play a harronir and it’s purely due to my unrepentant adoration of the avatar movies

but like. even i can recognize a patented ‘steve danuser knockoff race’ when i see one. and they’re the only race? no amani, no ethereals, not even a high elf race that’s just void elves with the void racials sanded off? really? steve danuser’s not-trolls? I mean, I’ll take em and I’ll like em, but I don’t want to be the only one at the lunch table enjoying the flavor of the slop

Never thought I’d see smaller raids again but it is a pleasant surprise

edit~ Also the new delve companion is Valeera, neat

Haranir don’t blow me away either but I can’t help but appreciate this latest nail in the high elf coffin. The idea that we’d return to Quel’Thalas after 20 years to stiff the blood elves and push slightly nicer, slightly purer blood elves is - er, was - obscene. To say nothing of the garbage bin they’d have dumped the void elves into.

Venture into new zones filled with mystery and danger. These zones are designed to challenge players with unique environments and storylines that tie into the overarching narrative of the Midnight expansion.

  • Eversong Woods: Explore the reimagined Eversong Woods, a radiant forest of lyrical enchantment in the kingdom of Quel’Thalas. This majestic and awe-inspiring region combines autumnal and spring-like elements, offering a unique blend of vibrant colors and serene beauty. As you journey through Eversong Woods, you’ll encounter the newly rebuilt Silvermoon City, a testament to the resilience and grandeur of the blood elves. The zone is filled with mystery and danger, as you uncover the heart of Xal’atath’s schemes and seek out new allies among the light and shadows alike.

  • Zul’Aman: Explore the reimagined Amani troll capital of Zul’Aman, a vibrant jungle where ancient stone ruins are draped in moss and sunlight. Colorful banners and waterfalls highlight the resurgent Amani trolls’ stronghold, which has been fully rebuilt from the ground up, modernizing its visual aesthetics and supporting flight with Skyriding. Lush foliage, exotic flowers, and ceremonial altars evoke the grandeur and mystery at the heart of this storied zone. As you journey through Zul’Aman, you’ll encounter the formidable Amani trolls, who have rebuilt their capital with the aid of the Zandalari, and work to thwart their plans while uncovering the secrets of the Amani trolls’ resurgence.

  • Harandar: Explore the new and mysterious zone of Harandar. This bioluminescent primordial jungle sits at the confluence of the world trees’ great roots. As you journey through Harandar, you’ll encounter the enigmatic Haranir. Prove yourself to gain their trust and unlock them as a new allied race. The zone is filled with challenges and mysteries, as you work to uncover the secrets of the Haranir and their connection to the goddess Shul’ka.

  • Voidstorm: Explore the tempestuous Voidstorm, a zone shrouded in darkness and cosmic predation. This mysterious world, formed by the Void, is filled with tempestuous gorges and towering pylons of stabilizing metals and cosmic crystals. As you journey through Voidstorm, you’ll encounter the Voidscar Arena and the Nexus-Point Xenas, where the strong prey on the weak. The zone is filled with challenges and mysteries, as you work to uncover the secrets of the Void and thwart the machinations of Xal’atath.

(Wowhead hasn’t posted a nice easy to link article so I’ma just cannibalize the news post for story stuff)

They are still more exciting than Earthen, at least. I was really pulling for Amani or Spellbreaker though, so at least some of the ambivalence is salt.

earthen are probably the most shockingly nothing feature ever centered in an expansion

just a big black hole in the middle of TWW. nobody likes them, nobody plays as them. imo indicative of a bit of a flaw with the writing team (also illustrated by the quel’thalas expansion featuring the harronir so heavily) that the modern wow writing team just can’t stop themselves from needlessly creating new races / cultures and focusing heavily on them. even in the expansion ostensibly about returning to an iconic warcraft location, they can’t help but sneak one in!

The only new DH is void elves? Not even nightborne?

All the news post mentioned was Void Elves.

They look cool. That’s about it. They are just dwarves, but made of rock and with all the flavor bled out of them. It is like someone thought the idea of literal blank slate was so funny it needed to be added.

Edit: I will say, they have added multiple ARs in the past, so it isn’t impossible that Amani will still end up playable before Midnight is over.

My guess was for the Void spec for Demon Hunters Void Elves would be allowed to be one, but then they would also give Blood Elf Demon Hunters the ability to look like Void Elves.

That was my assumption anyway.

But Alliance gets 2 DH races and Horde just has 1?
