We’re overhauling a lot of specs again huh…
I’m not sure about that new Freezing mechanic for frost mages yet…
Either way, there’s gonna be a lot of changes from here on.

This should have been a given. Talent Trees will always be redone on expansions.
Want to elaborate? I don’t usually look at talent changes so early, but I do see that the Frostfire Manaforge Omega tier set is being baked into the Frostfire tree as I predicted.
So the top frost Apex talent necessitates we take Ray of Frost? So much for choice I guess.
Well, maybe they’re making it baseline.
Oh hey, Summon Water Elemental is back! Very interesting!
Priest general tree so far is hot garbage.
Class design team strikes again. ![]()
Outlaw was long overdue for an overhaul.

Blood DK once again being gutted.
So happy.
Enhance going full RNG procs really sucks.
Oh boy, can’t wait to reconfigure Survival for the… uh, fourth time in less than two years?
It’s not that common to see baseline mechanics change/get introduced though.
Let’s see how this goes.
The tier set is getting baked into the hero tree, but the base class is getting a new mechanic, Freezing, likely a stacking debuff, which affects at least Ice Lance # of targets hit and maybe makes shatter work (ice lance consumes 4 stacks of Freezing).
Without the passive spec changes there is not much to speculate on it yet though.
You can see how it works and interact with talents in the frost mage tree.
The mage class tree changes all look like massive wins though.
Edit: They suck. A lot of heavy handed survivability/utility nerfs.
Ouch the Outlaw Rogue treatment.

This was true with the Mists of Pandaria talent system but with Trees the changes are always more significant as they want to add new stuff to them without removing the basics. With the Dragonflight era of Talent Trees even our basic abilities have been put into the trees. You don’t really learn much just by leveling anymore. I guess they didn’t see any other way to have talents just improve spells by a percent here and a percent there. So any change is going to increase issues with those basic spells.
With Midnight, they are adding Apex talents to the Spec Trees. These are supposed to be our power boost for the expansion but also optional… That will probably cause balancing chaos as well. Though the current trees on WOWHead will probably change frequently in Alpha and again in Beta.
My first impressions:
Unholy Death Knight: $#&% YES! #Deletewounds MORE UNDEAD.
Demonology Warlock: I’m so scared.
Frost Mage changes … interesting.
Hope the Water Elemental makes it to live and can still cast Freeze.
Yeah, no mention of Icy Veins either.
We still have to know how the baseline specs are before trying to make sense of the talent trees.
Shatter seems to have changed … going to need to know exactly what it does before we can really judge how this is going to work.
Yup, Icy Veins removed… in favor of Ray of Frost as the CD.
I gotta see how this all plays out, but I don’t really like this direction of ramping up the Freezing debuff to have Ice Lance shatter it.
They want to make frost the consistent/“small spikes” damage spec, and I’m the burst damage guy… FML.
Also, FFB replacing freaking Glacial Spike… ugh…
am I hallucinating…or is Multishot finally dead for Beastmaster?
Maybe Im looking at something wrong here.
dear Santa…please make it so…MS is crap.
You’re not. Read each feedback thread on classes for more info.
PRAISE GEEBUS!
SOOO sick of seeing MS in the talent tree anywhere lol
