Yes I did really mean to put that there that many times. I have been trying for yearssssss to give feedback on what to change and how to change it and it’s like you finally listened to what I’ve been saying. So yes. Thank you. And yes, I know this is Alpha but for the changes I’ve seen thus far regarding all 3 specs, I am SO SUPER THANKFUL for these changes. Now I finally get to have fun with my mage again after 3 expansions. Thank you!
If you watch videos of people actaully PLAYING the Alpha, they are way more positive than the people complaining on the forums. I think the changes are fine.
Which changes in particular? I like the look of some stuff. Arcane seems interesting, getting an actual ranged arcane explosion essentially. I’m not sure how I feel about ray of frost being the centrepiece of frost. But we’ll see. I know a lot of folks will be thrilled to see water elemental back, but I’m on the fence. I never rolled a mage to play a pet class. I saw there is a yet unimplemented talent below it though. My hope is that that talent will boost its power but makes it a short term summon instead. I would love that.
I’ve seen a lot of gameplay where each of the specs actually feel impactful with their abilities rather than just pressing a bunch of buttons. They made the abilities interact better with the talents in a way that makes the combat more engaging. Something I’ve been asking for for fckin YEARS. I’m really excited to see how this goes.
I understand I’m speaking vaguely, and that’s kinda the point. The overall look and feel of the changes I’ve seen thus far are things I’ve been hoping for for years.
In a sense, they’re making more of the rotations and abilities mesh better and interact more with the talents creating a more immersive feel the each of the specs. They seem to have removed a lot of the redundant button pressing and streamlined it more to make the abilities and rotations feel more impactful while playing.
Some changes they’ve taken off is Shatter for ice lances. Instead there will be a debuff put on the target and procced ice lances will eat up x amount of the charges on the target and Winter’s Chill has been removed. This is something I’ve been praying would be removed since Flurry got added to the game.
I’ve been asking for a while now for them to remove a bunch of the back end damage and move more of the damage more toward the front. So for the removal of Scorch and Phoenix flames, what this does is open up more Pyroblasts to be casted as well as Flame Strike so overall it should feel better to play.
How I see it is they’ll probably have to go back on some of the changes to keep the overall rotation fluid or they’re planning on adding more through the Apex talents going into Midnight.
Either way, I see their philosophy for the spec and holy crap, I’m all for it!
I haven’t read all of the changes yet, but I really want them to give back the elemental. Not even to fight as a pet, but maybe just have it follow us around until we pop Icy Veins, for RP.
It could be a spell book or something, like Arcane Linguistics.
I’ve never much liked phoenix flames. It just always seemed like it was treading the same ground as fire blast. Scorch though, that does bug me. That’s been a staple since vanilla.
Actually they are going to be bringing back the elemental. Still unsure if it will be more like a permanent pet but from what I’ve seen, you’ll be able to use the pet’s Freeze ability once again so there’s that.
This is a silly opinion on frostmage, but if you talent into the elemental it should give frost mages a out of combat “travel form” like instant mount. Running hit your keybind and just jump on the lad and go, like he was the Jania mount.
Jk. I love the flavor. Just cause you have an out there kind of opinion or idea doesn’t mean it’s bad. I actually would quite like that but I don’t think that’s the kind of flavor they’d throw in WoW simply cause they try to keep things a bit even across the board.
