oof thats savage.
I’m just really wondering what they’re going to replace Phoenix Flames with.
We also lost Living Bomb. I liked it. But they screwed it up to oblivion.
Like honestly… what’s to become of the Pyromancer? Just a turret shooting fireballs and Pyroblasts? Thats tremendously boring.
Frick. I hope we get Greater Pyroblast.
Just out of curiosity, what philosophy are you talking about that you didn’t mention?
Sounds like it. I read their thing where they said they’ll be greatly increasing the damage of pyroblast and flamestrike as well. It’s certainly much more the way mages used to be. Though that’s also where Scorch would fit in. It was the compromise. You could move, but you’ll do way less damage. I really hope it doesn’t stay on the cutting room floor.
Yay… I get to go back and play a version of WoW Classic Mage… something I’ve always wanted…
I’m really, REALLY hoping we get push-to-hold spells. I don’t want the three spells I already have since Classic. I want new spells. FUN spells. With NEW ANIMATIONS. Not a gutted down Fire Mage.
Otherwise I’ll just stay Arcane. They really have no idea what to do with Fire Mage.
I’m also very excited for the changes for mages. Ice flows is probably one of the coolest becoming a passive. I always felt as though some casting classes should be able to simply cast while on the move and not have to sit still. So this is a wonderful change in my opinion.
Usually, those who wish for things to remain the same do not have reason on their side.
My 1 hope for Fire is that they add 1 more active single target/cleave-AoE type ability back to the kit. Phoenix Flames isn’t loved by everyone but I liked what how it actually worked. Could invent a brand new ability here.
Then Preheat made a suggestion on Scorch where it would act like Glacial Spike is for Frostbolt now. So basically whenever you pressed Combustion, Fireball would transform into Scorch for the duration of Combustion. And then go back to Fireball. I thought this was a decent idea.
Oh no, what a nightmare.
This is a mixed change though.
It means target swapping is now harder, and pressure on PvP gets lowered.
The removal of a lot of defensives and self healing are not positives.
And specially the loss of Blast Wave.
The game has way too few knockbacks already, and they are the best part of the game, specially in PvP, so losing one, again btw, feels awful.
I bet most changes are net positives for PvE, but the PvP / Solo Delving implications of them are terrible.
I was hoping frost would get scorch back at some point due to frostfire, as it makes much more sense than Fire Blast, then they come around and remove it entirely. ROFLMAO.
I have yet to see a source for this, but it’s be huge if true.
I am sure that it great for people that want simple. Being able to play it at a higher level make it more fun… 3 buttons is not. if your end goal is LFR it doesn’t really matter what the rotation is.
The funniest thing is that their stated goal is for frost mage to be the “easy” spec and it’s got the most complexity at the moment on alpha.
We’re cooked fam. Hard to tell what class to switch TO, they all look so bad.
I am an arcane mage. I am the all powerful champion of Azeroth!
Let me thrash you with my two spells!
COMBO BISH!!!I !!11!!!1111!1!!!
You can’t handle my mageness!
I’d like to know why they felt the need to take away mass barrier, gut alter time+mirror images, and get rid of blast wave + gravity lapse. Like in what world does taking away a groupwide defensive AND our CC’s make sense. With the recouperate ability that’s baseline for everyone, they don’t need mage food anymore. Apart from lust, mages just don’t contribute anything to the group anymore apart from damage.
Frost mage has me excited for the first time since MoP. Was never a fan of Ray of Frost for being rotation bloat it didn’t need, but it functioning as your major dps cooldown in lieu of Icy-Veins is something i can get behind. It’s a little bit unfortunate if your ray target dies but hopefully they can do something about that before it’s live.
I hope Shifting Power and Rune of Power are rotting together in a fiery pit.
