Microtransactions, death of an MMO. RuneScape 3 did the same

Urgh.

Could they have been more cryptic?

Probably.

…

Did I wind up back in 2008 somehow?

Because these types of threads normally pop up when games first start going down the MTX route. Not 12 years after they start.

This ship sailed with the sparkle pony. :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably not as they hadn’t even made a design for it yet at the current time. With any luck the delay might have them work on all the other exciting themes that weren’t just a silly tree.

The spellbook and caterpillar both sounded amazing. But since Lord of the rings exists all the other options never had a shot.

It needs to be constantly on fire.

I am hoping they add the caterpillar.

Even if it is to the shop.

Take my money Blizz! I want that caterpillar.

God I hope so.

Oh for Pete sakes no one cares about MTX

However people care about MTX when it’s attached to a game with a sub

And people with brains in their head that don’t run around screeching that the free market will fix everything happen to find doing stuff like adding something to a 6 month sub so they can harpoon a few whales to be dodgy practice

And whales can be removed from the endangered list because we have enough of this forum to sustain a good breeding program

People have been saying this for over a decade now and the store is still only a handful of items.

Delete your stupid thread.

Except it’s an optional store full of optional things.

It being attached to a game with or without a sub is irrelevant to that one simple fact. When it becomes absolutely required like the majority of phone games, then we can have a rational discussion.

Do you think PC gamers hold any respect for mobile games payment models?

Why on earth would you try to relate those two knowing full well you’re going to get torn apart on that

People are treating a small silly optional cosmetic like it’s the end of the known world. They’re also insulting others here by calling them whales when that term was used to describe those that spend thousands and thousands of dollars by themselves on MXT.

Blizzards in game store isn’t even capable of making anyone earn that title as there is simply not enough pay to win items in the store (zero btw) to achieve such a feat.

It’s an optional 20 dollar cosmetic.

The phone game method is the perfect example as games that go totally free to play adapt that style, regardless of what platform they’re on to bring in more income. Make no mistake that if wow was free to play then people like the op would have zero issues with what they’re optionally offering. It’s only a big deal because we pay monthly for something they feel entitled to have for free, even if they won’t admit it.

Respect is irrelevant in those regards.

Some people really do have an almost abnormal fear of microtransactions…huh, it’s funny really.

It truly is fascinating how someone’s entire life is consumed by something so meaningless that they have to crusade against it, while giving money to the companies they seem to hate.

It’s really an interesting time to be alive.

My only fear of microtransactions is that Blizzard will introduce a much cooler transmog set and I’ll buy it up. The present transmog set I just don’t like it enough yet to warrant buying it.

That’s not to say I won’t buy it later on down the road.

They got a solid track record of silly with the yeti costume and this for their outside of game cosmetics. We get stellar mogs each expansion so I think we’ll be alright. Even the covenant mogs look insanely well done.

That is honestly what I don’t get. $15 a month for however many years you are unhappy is a-ok, but $20?! That crosses the line!

Aside from that I think it is stupid to expect others to act in a manner because you are unhappy. Put on your big boy britches if you are unhappy, don’t expect someone else to do the dirty work because you don’t have the cahones to do it yourself.

Not just any 20… an optional amount of 20!

Truly mind boggling.
