Microtransactions, death of an MMO. RuneScape 3 did the same

No, I’m really not.

Runescape died for a multitude of reasons… the shop was the least of that games issues.

It only took them almost 16 years to get 3 cosmetic helmets that are now gone and a handful of mounts/pets and currently a single armor set. I’ll be long dead by the time they get anywhere near Final fantasy’s cosmetic shop.

they’d be right.

the shop has existed for over 10 years.
it didn’t kill the game.

just the usual drama for the sake of drama.

Elder scrolls online has had a in game store (crown store) for years and it has 16 million players across 3 platforms. I don’t think the in game store that WoW has is going to do any kind of dmg to the game.

Just gonna say, 11/25 skills are members-only. That’s nearly half, not a very small handful.

If you wanna have a real discussion about what is killing the game, then you should’ve brought up wow tokens over a silly optional cosmetic.

They literally became the gold sellers and that is making them more money than any other service they provide by far. I’m actually dying to get ahold of their token sales numbers after the announcement and eventual removal of the auction house mount.

I can’t even imagine just how much money they must’ve made off 20 dollar tokens. I had friends buying handfuls of them for that in game mount. Whatever this cosmetic armor set eventually brings them, it will pale in comparison to that of the all mighty wow token.

jagex didn’t start pushing stuff because they saw the community was fine with a slow creep of microtransactions, they did it because they needed money lol.

Also this.

They had player numbers, but they weren’t doing well financially at that time. Also had some shady business going on if you looked into their reports that a few redditors went through over the years.

One cosmetic thing gets thrown in the shop
and people lose their minds LOL. GD is endless entertainment some days.

So companies and businesses aren’t allowed to reward their most loyal customers with a gift now and then for remaining loyal?

2020 is the gift that keeps on giving.

mmmm yes…

Did we ever get that walking tree mount we voted for?

If you don’t like stuff in the store, don’t buy it, I never wanted anything there. But don’t start a crusade against those that do. You know, like we do at freaking Walmart.

We will get some sort of tree mount. It will probably be the one we don’t want, but the one we deserve. It’s so gonna have a copy paste rig of those golem looking mounts and forever be stuck on doorways and narrow passes.

Should be an exciting time XD.

He actually said not to do that, because he has it as well for being a 6month sub. He isn’t wearing it, but he did specifically say not to mistreat people because they use something they got for free.

As for the spitting thing though, I am still waiting to be spit on for my store mounts.

"it will be added to the Mount Collection tab in Q1 2021 for every player with Shadowlands activated on their account "

Q1 2021 so beginning of the new year…sometime…that’s what I got from that above.
