I have worked from home, on the road, meetings, hotel rooms, offices. I can say for certain, if my job had such little interaction I could get away with only a few mins work a day, the position would have been eliminated.
I don’t know why people think most employees need someone standing over their shoulder in order to work. I would be bored out of my skull having a job with nothing to do. That is not fun, that is mind numbing.
I am sure some people abuse work from home, but most don’t. They get more done with less distraction and a lot less stress. Also save huge bills for cost of living, commuting, work clothing, lunches, etc.
The ones losing out there are the middle managers with nobody to manage, and the real estate barons who now find nobody needs their huge office towers.
Rats in a cage. Most people don’t like being the rat.

And to see that they did not even pay final paychecks. Wow.

It’s a combination of projection and jealousy. They know they would sit around in their pajamas all day if they had the opportunity, so they assume everyone else would too.

Source? I saw nothing in the article saying that. That would be highly illegal. Anyone laid off will not only get final paychecks, they will get a severance package in accordance with the California labor laws. Some may also be eligible for unemployment insurance, if they (or their company) paid into it and they are qualified. Meaning not fired for cause.
Quote from the Spencer memo to staff:
We will provide our full support to those who are impacted during the transition, including severance benefits informed by local employment laws.

That’s usually middle management justifying their existence.

So nothing was ever done prior to 2020? Prior to shutdowns?
Hmmm maybe… The Warcraft IP probably holds the most promise for Blizzard’s growth as it is the most developed. Whether WOW is the long term driver of that growth remains to be seen.
Right now, they are heavily advertising Warcraft Rumble. If that gains a good following, it can easily drive growth.

Was it all devs or just cafeteria/sanitation employees that were getting close to their 20 years and they all got canned so they wouldn’t get their pensions?

I recently got promoted to management for Florida Department of Transportation, I used to be an asphalt tech guy testing asphalt
I do not like sitting down doing nothing I actually go help out my employees where it’s needed
There are people who do just similar to that and I have called them out with upper management, there’s another project manager out here in my office who thinks he’s too good to stay till 5 and leaves at 3, shows up at 10
People like him need to be let go, just like the quote you said above those are people who take advantage

Most of my female characters have names ending with ‘annah’… Tiannah (Paladin), Kiannah, Moriannah.
Ahh thanks.
I totally agree, and it’s why I play video games. I am on a dedicated team that has low volume, whereas other teams have multiple clients and are back to back.
I dislike working, I enjoy money and video games… This job allows that with very little volume so I am very content, stress free and happy with very little work to do and I love itttt
Those are usually Contractor employees, so they don’t have benefits through Blizzard. It would be through whatever company handles the food services and/or janitorial contract.
VERY few companies actually have direct hire staff for those roles.
I would gather a bunch are redundant Corporate staff at the ATVI level. Might be wishful thinking on my part?

You’re damn right I do!! And I make money doing it
Funny how you state the guy needs to go, but only based on the hours he shows up. Do you actually know anything about him like the level of quality he puts out?
If he’s a project manager in Florida, he’s definitely salary, so it could just be there is nothing for him to do at the moment.

What you said is completely unrelated to what Mirasol said.
