Microsoft Calls for an end to "Get Gud"

What are your thoughts GD?

Edit - Just to be clear, not focusing on this particular game, but focusing on that fact that a giant like Microsoft thinks the “Get Gud” attitude in games needs to “Git Gone”.

/shrug doom with god mode is still fun, and fun is the only point to games.

I play TW on easy.

I support this fully.

Playing games on the hardest setting for me is like handing me a hammer and telling me to smash my other hand.

I work in a sales based position and challenges for me are selling and making more $$$. My free time I want to just ROFLSTOMP things.

I support lowering standards whenever possible because the more people comfy at the bottom, the better for me. It makes them easily exploited if they have no standards or willpower to achieve anything.

J/k. This is silly and an obvious ploy at mass appeal.

It’s a video game, not a professional sports league.

I mean that game is pretty story heavy, so yea why not let everyone enjoy it

Depends on game, never played that one so can’t tell. If it’s like Crash Bandicoot, then no, 1 difficulty all the way, if it’s story focused game, then yeah difficulty ease is a good option, I did same in Witcher 3, reducing difficulty so I don’t stress too much while playing and just enjoy the world and story.

This is highly logical.
The dev’s need to ‘get real’.
Making games for the few makes little sense to the many.

What exactly is the point in playing a game that you can’t fail at

Then it might as well just be a damn Netflix story and the whole game thing is wasted

That’s like playing uno but everyone wins at the end which defeats the whole purpose

This is great.

Keep it out of From Soft games, is all. Learning the beats of the game in a challenging environment is part of that experience.

(Been seeing lots of ‘it’s time for FromSoft to add a difficulty setting’ tweets and editorials lately. It’s not now or has it ever been time for that)

You mean that company that has had repeat success from not having a difficulty slider?

They’ll come form them next

Literally impossible to implement. In a single player story based game sure you can just make it impossible to die. But in a mmo or multiplayer game? You cannot implement any similar thing that doesnt completely ruin the whole idea of what gaming is. You would end up only making a “game” that no one plays.

Not sure–I don’t know why anyone would want to play a game that you continually fail at. When I’m out golfing I don’t see it as a competition just something to do and improve at.

Games with God-Mode are stress relivers. Why can’t you accept that?

I’ll never understand how some people see games that have very easy and easy modes as some kind of an affront to their existence. That’s like being the most competitive basketball player around then suddenly realizing because you’re so good no one wants to play with you. Shocker.

But if they turn that on then how will they see their character?

Well…

That kinda is the whole point. Sometimes you just want to see the story.

Git Gud is like something one Starcraft parlor player says to another. It’s never been a blanket statement about internet gaming. Yeah it’s dumb and it’s pretty much the antithesis of my gaming culture, which is to chillax and see how much gets done accidentally.

Git Gud has a place, this is more in regard to gatekeeping in gaming which I generally agree can go.

I think they need to try Dark Souls and then say that again :joy:
