116,000 people? We only got a hundred counties, no way I missed 1160 people dying, that would be like 10% of the county population.
I didn’t believe it, so checked the paper and local health services web site.
They both had death counts due to covid, in this State, at 12,000 occurrences.
So, I called local health , and asked, and informed them that a search engine site page was providing quick and handy covid facts, and that was where I got that 20% of the Country, 116,000 deaths stuff from, and maybe they could get that mistake corrected, probably ought to, before we all run away.
An hour later, things were looking much better, not perfect but much better than an Eastern Plague-lands addition.
Still though, I am sure that sloppy bit of fake news changed lives.
Wait, people use Bing?
It’s the best alternative to www.yahoo.com imo
Only when I’m fairly sure the topic I’m researching is on the approved list.
Gotta stay in line, you know.
Wow. You are a conspiracy nutjob.
We were told yesterday by Biden the wonder dog… that 200 million people have been vaccinated…
Cant even get the most basic facts accurate. 200 million people have NOT been vaccinated. The goal is to get 200 million vaccinated within the first 100 days of the administration.
If you cant even get the most basic of facts right, maybe you should stop spouting BS.
We’re at 133 million, or 40%. This is significant. Very significant.
We will get there so long as people are willing to take them.
My parents as well as the wife and I are fully vaccinated.
They’re opening up to all age bracket general public here in California on April 15, gonna get it as soon as I can snag an appointment.
My parents are in their 70s so they got theirs a while ago. The wife and I got it through our work, and we just got our second shots two Tuesdays ago.
The next hurdle will be waiting for the kids’ vaccines to be approved and distributed.
To quote Rolf from Ed, Edd, n Eddy… “You crazy?”
Occam’s Razor is just lies imo
Most improbable explantation must be true
I understand there is a need for complexity when is needed and such, but in the times that isn’t, it just more or less looks less likely to be the answer.
That isn’t to say the simple answer is always correct. I just think we give credence at one point to the idea that complexity must equals knowledge of the subject they are talking about, even though the answer is questionable at worst. And to some point today, we still do that, we just also keep this mind in to achieve a balance of sorts. But i digress.
I can pick apart a lot of wrong stuff with that comment, but i’m getting the feeling that comment is not meant to be taken seriously, or if it was, it’s pretty darn all over the place.
I hope some place out there tries to do a good test pool of people on natural immunization versus vaccine.
My sister got the Pfizer vaccine a few months ago and I had Covid back in November. Trying to convince her to get an anti-body test and compare the results to mine.
Well antibodies aren’t the only part of the immune system - you also have the T-cell response which from my understand fades slower with vaccination vs. natural infection. You’ll both want to be vaccinated.
There haven’t been many studies that show that information.
There’s already talks about the Covid vaccine being a yearly thing which means even the vaccination immunity becomes diminished over time.
Booster shots have been pretty much a given since the beginning, but iirc I have read studies that showed vaccination due to the way it teaches your body to identify the spike proteins transfers higher protection against newer variants vs natural immunity from infection
That’s interesting, and makes sense. The immune system works on pattern matching, and when it’s operating on its own it may not necessarily be matching against the most optimal set of patterns. With vaccines we can direct the immune system to instead recognize patterns common to most or all variants of a pathogen.
I think the body is wild and scientists are amazing.
From what I understand, while there may be differences either way (some experts say natural infection gives you better immunity vs. the original strain vs. vaccination, and others like I mentioned earlier say that vaccination is better vs. variants) seems best practice is to get the vaccine if you can regardless if you’ve been infected naturally or not.
We’re coming up on enough supply soon that everyone can get it without feeling guilt over it, so I’d go ahead and just get it anyway.
