I can never understand why the southern part of Eastern Kingdoms is called azeroth, that always throws me off. It’s like having a city named after the planet were on in real life.

See I knew that Kalimdor was 90% underwater, but zomg underwater map can’t have those.

Where the wild things are

The other thing is that at this stage, their idea of the factions and playable races was probably still pretty vague. Figuring out those bits likely made it apparent that Eastern Kingdoms wouldn’t be able to host both the Horde and Alliance, and the easiest solution to that problem was to increase the size of Kalimdor to match that of EK and move most of the Horde there.

Northrond.

You know this map might be post SL as we time travel 10,000 years and there’s been global warming.

The maelstrom got plugged finally. No will miss desolace. Nor STV for that matter. No sign of Teldrassil.

Also, it has a slight Coneria look to it. Just angle Eastern landmass slightly to the right.

Draw a line horizontally above Matoya’s

He left us.

Hehe … the starting region name in my pencil-and-paper game also eventually morphed into the name for my whole campaign world

What the heck are the sunken lands???

Epic. Epic as a dinosaur.

Given that the dotted line around the region seems to be already floating the concept of a sundering, my guess would be that was the first iteration of the concept of Nazjatar.

This map actually looks amazing and fun. To think of all the lore the new blizzard destroying. Just think of the stuff they could added. I know Classic was more base of WC3 lore but I would love if they added another landmass like this map somewhere on Azeroth (which is on the map as a zone). I know maybe people are still waiting for dragon isle.

Truth. Still waiting on Northern Lordaeron to become a playable zone as well. If you hover your mouse over Eastern Kingdoms, just above Western Plaguelands, you’ll notice an unclickable spot on the map that is Northern Lordaeron. Can’t fly there either, invisible wall. Wish it got expanded upon.

Map of one of all time favorites!

Would love to see that fleshed out too. It’d need to be expanded a bit to fit a real zone, though — currently what’s occupying that space is an uninstanced copy of Stratholme and a medium-sized stretch of flat, untextured terrain.

They’d also need to do some reconciliation with Ghostlands, since part of Deatholme overlaps with Stratholme (post has pictures).
