Metzen has never been a Cynical person, it is his fiery passion and his positive demeanor that are the reasons people love him so much. He isn’t wrong though, it does suck that people on the higher end can be a bit cold, they have their reasons though and business is business. Still things like this are not the fault of the developers and the ones we interact with here. That said those developers are the reason for a lot of the gameplay decisions you may not like and that is fair game I think.

i use to encourage the devs and company. (long time blizzard fan since original Diablo) just that in recent years the company and devs have not done much to give me reason to do that anymore. They say stuff that is later entirely not true
(rememebr ions “we’ll focus on warlocks durability” Q&A followed week later by nerf to SL and week or two after that the talent swap so couldnt take 2 defensive talents?) or they flat out LIE to the players faces (about they wont garrosh 2.0 BFA when the plot story is (atm) a 100% clone of mist’s down to a traitor starting rebellion agasint evil WC).
when the devs/company DO soemthign to earn the respect again then we can encourage them again. respect and the like isnt given for free it has to be earned. (be it a single person or a major business)
nor this when Diablo hasnt had new content in over 18 months (and that last was just necro DLC pack), HotS had ppl removed from working on it to work on other stuff, SC2 is dead IP, and OW is a mess of imbalance and metas that stick around WAY too long and only change when the ones responsible get nerfed months later).

beign constructive doesnt matter when even BETA feedback is 90% ignored.
…so WE players who have ZERO influence on a company should encourage the ppl who also have no say in the company?
why? if they dont have a say why do we encourage em as it wont matter in end?
i mean even ppl who USE to work on blizzard stuff say the company has long touch with the players.

I say all the negativity is well deserved. I’m not going to engage in it too much but I’m also not going to whine about it either. I also can’t take the words of someone that no doubt has a large stockpile of Activision Blizzard shares they are sitting on too seriously either.

I will always love Metzan and it breaks my heart how his mental health suffered because of the community and the stress of trying to please everyone. In the end you will never make everyone happy because some people live to be grumples.
I respect him and his views and I have no doubt that there are hard working dedicated people still under the Blizz/Activision hand. But with that said…I feel the Mission statement needs to be dusted off and handed to some of the new blood.

I’m sure many of us can read that and name a few not given the attention they deserve. It use to be important to listen to the very people feeding your greed monster. If it’s working DON’T fix (break) it. If it doesn’t work…don’t do it again lol
But if Metzan was to whisper in my ear that everything would be alright…I believe he has the power to change my mind!

Why is it my job to support and encourage Blizzard? I already pay them a monthly fee. I am not expected to support and encourage my mobile phone provider. It is a simple relationship. They provide a service and I pay for it. There is literally no company that a send a monthly check to that gets a pass for having a poor product because of what they did in the past.

He still has a financial stake in ATVI and probably contractually bound from saying anything negative about it. Metzen is still a great guy, but take this with a grain of salt.
