Pretty much after that interview he just guarantee that this game will live on for another decade or 2 or even more.
itll keep going as long as its making money
He can ââguaranteeââ a lot of thingsâŚ
thing is it had so much momentum that it can walk dead for a few decades still.
were like a bunch of sick necromancers keeping the beast up way past its time.
wow will outlive a lot of the ppl still playing it
There are some TV series that have existed under several decades. I expect computer games to be added to this as well.
âMetzen said this, blizzard said thatâ My reply is, and you believe what they say? They walk back their statements all the time.
Good, because when its dwindling player base dies off, the game will shutdown, since it clearly is not attracting any new lifelong players.
Challenge accepted - hold my beer.
This dude mad that WoW wonât make it to his grandkids
Youâre thinking EverQuest - that game has necromancer player classes.
And is still operational and releasing new contentâŚdespite having its 25th Anniversary this year
If that old horse is still kicking, WoWâs probably got a long future ahead of it.

This dude mad that WoW wonât make it to his grandkids
LOL i donât even play, i actually want the game to shutdown already just to watch the chaos.
I think its smart theyre saving player housing for when wow is in its death throes. Making it instanced content like garrisons would be a shame, if in a couple decades thereâs limited real estate for customizable things and more instanced stuff like garrisons I think the game can survive on that alone.
If they find a way to incorporate an expansion on the wc rts as a game within wow that would be an interesting direction as well, turning wow into a base lobby so to speak with other games revolving around it. Iâd enjoy if in 10 years we can go to war with our warbands, build ingame scripts about their behaviour, squad tactics etc.
Iâm sure the base wow experience will always remain, including the competitive side (m+/raiding and pvp) but Iâd be surprised if they donât add a ton more ontop of it, for the aging populations who want more relaxed, traditional rpg style pacing.
Bungie has said similar about Destiny 2 but with the way things are goin thats unlikely because the game lives or dies from profitability and WoW is the same. Like WoW is a very old game with a well not good story and whilst it does have a few younger players I doubt itâs enough to keep the game going for another decade or two.

You know what, I misread your post. But my second point still stands.
I donât think Destiny 2 is a good comparison was ever close to WoW in revenue despite being much younger. WoW has a lot of room for failure and downsizingâŚclearly, destiny 2 did not.
Yes, WoW will need to remain profitable, but they have more options to generate revenue and seem to be testing other potential revenue streamsâŚi.e. plunderstorn, remix
Metzen can claim whatever, but ultimately MSFT has final say on anything.
Of course, this is the only Blizzard game that actually makes money. They will keep it going for as long as possible. They wonât make a WoW 2 on a new engine either, because that would be very expensive and risk splitting and alienating the playerbase.

A very old game? Destiny 2 released in 2017. It is 7 years old
Never said it was Old though did I?

Who can say but that ignores the point developers behind both games have claimed that theyâll keep the game going for years to come, something they can not say for certain because as soon as an online game becomes a net loss well⌠lights out is usually the standard practice.
Like servers are not cheap to run which is where WoW as an actual MMO has an advantage closing dead servers to reduce costs is an option rather then full on games over.
Hey guys. Hereâs a statement that has no basis in fact and completely ignores the stark realities of basic business economics 101. Believe me, k?
Walt Disney is in cryogenic stasis. Heâs not technically dead, but if he saw what was being made in his name, heâd probably rather be dead.
