Hey there Dragoon,

That actually looks like the issues may start nearer to us. What ISP are you on? I’d wager other players in your area may be having similar problems.

When you have this issue, does an alternate nework fix the problem? You can try a couple different ways to go to a different network:

  1. Installing a VPN
  2. Using a mobile phone tether
  3. Trying at a friend’s house - one who uses a different ISP

using a VPN doesnt seem to change anything and i use Metronet for my ISP. On this subject the exact same thing is happening or starting to happen tonight, it spiked real high then came back down. If it goes up and stays up again i will upload another WinMTR this time using a VPN before and after if able.

-----Update------

This is with no VPN at all, ill turn mine on and see if it changes this time.

Alt bump because no replies having same issue tonight.

Is the second report above with the VPN on, or not?
Based on the IP addresses, it’s off, but is it?

Can we get a winmtr with the vpn in use?

The second update i did not post a WinMTR because i had 0% loss while using my VPN. I only experience loss when not using my VPN.

This is from tonight also without my VPN.

That’s the hop that screams problems to me. It has one second latency spikes and it would be in your ISP’s network in all likelihood. Have you sent these results to your ISP?

No i have not sent the results to my ISP but the only thing that has an issue is WoW and only after 7pm EDT

Well, generally if the VPN fixes the problem, then the issue is the route your ISP is taking. If the issue is the route your ISP is taking, you’d take that up with your ISP.

Drakulth already said it looked like the issue was on their end though.

Is what he said, not that it was on their end.

I have Metronet as well and i am seeing the spikes too starting at about 8pm est to 10pm est. I have already contacted them but they haven’t been out to look at it yet.

Your latency spikes start on your first hop, typically modem or router. The there’s lots of packet loss on the second hop. I’d definitely start with the ISP.

They are suppose to be out here to look at it on Saturday, I’ll keep ya updated if they find anything Dragoon. I already tried bypassing the router and wired the connection last night, pretty much same. Thanks Zungar

okay badice thanks

I submitted a query to my ISP as suggested and will update with the reply.

Hey folks,

I’ve seen a few reports of metronet issues over the past few days so I wanted to change the name of this thread and see if I can collect more information.

If you’re having latency issues on Metronet, can you please post the following information:

  1. What time of day do you see problems?
  2. Is the latency spiky, or consistent?
  3. It’ll help if you can provide a winMTR test while the issue is happening. Use the IP address 24.105.62.129 for your host when running the test. Once you’ve got it exported, open the file and copy/paste it into your post.

If you have problems with posting the test due to a link error, go ahead and copy paste this into your next post, and replace “WinMTR goes here” with your test.

Don’t have the winmtr test. But I had the same issues between 8-9pm EST, sometimes until 10. Latency was approaching 500ms and seriously delayed. Not spikes. Logged Saturday afternoon at 2pm EST. Latency was minimal but the play was super spikey, things would resolve 2-3 seconds after I enabled them. Did aoe grinding and saw each blizzard resolve itself maybe 5 seconds after cast. Logged off at 3:15 with same issues.

Just talked to MetroNet, they suggested the easiest thing to do first which is replace my router and call back if it happens again. shocking…

Thank God that I found this thread. I use Metronet as well, and I do experience severe lag issues usually around 10 pm est (could also be around 9 to 11pm ball park).

I am trying to remember when this issue first started. I think it was after Blizz fixed lag/stutter issued (introduced after 8.1.5). I don’t think this matters.

EDIT: The result is posted below.
EDIT#2: Just want to point out that Home latency was below 20ms throughout the night. World Latency was the issue.

I used WinMTR and I can’t copy and paste because it has links in it.

Started happening again at about 8:30pm est. I was in the Eternal Palace raid when this happened. After I ran the test. The latency spiked up to 2k ms.

Please help. It’s been going on for about, I would say, more or less a week.
