Will this affect the mythic race somehow? 
I doubt it as most of the world first raiders create their own scripts to fit their needs at the time.

I agree with weakauras having the potential to be the most powerful addon in the game by far.
But there’s a difference between “raiding” and “raiding for world rankings”. I raided the equivalent of modern Heroic from Firelands thru Battle of Dazar’alor / Crucible of Storms, occasionally dabbling in a bit of Mythic, but not too much.
I often used Weakauras.
But I hardly ever used them for boss mechanics. I used them to set up my cooldowns and procs in a more central location. That’s it, and realistically that’s how most people use the addon.
That’s exactly what I said, though.
The main function of weakauras is to help with character play, which is why its use extends far outside of raiding.
For raid applications, though, weakauras also does things far more powerful and useful than DBM, since DBM is just a glorified egg timer.
For Mythic Azshara decrees, for example, weakauras would instantly take the data on who had which decrees in the raid, where they should go, whom they should stack with, and what they should do there. DBM can’t come close to doing that.
No I get it. I’m just saying that plenty of people RAID and also don’t use the addon to the extent you’re describing. That’s very much a high-end use case.
Also you’ll want to adjust your weakauras in realm time right then and now and then immediately share with the raid (which weakauras can do all by itself, you don’t need a web site to do it). Which is very easy to do. Nobody’s going to pause world first raiding to wait for another guild to share their stuff on wago.
The wago site just allows people to distribute their stuff to other guilds/servers even if not grouped with them at the time.

I thought so, I was wondering if the site was needed for something specific but last time I checked it was only used to save strings.
Maybe it is a 4D chess move we will not be able to understand until it is too late, or they just want a new source of income, who knows?
Unknown. Method could stop other guilds from using Wago IO.
But WAGO IO isn’t a mandatory tool to create Weak Auras anyway. As said above by another person, this is most likely an avenue for Method to monetize weak auras.
They will likely add a subscription service to the site. Because at the end of the day Method is an organization whose purpose is to make money.
Sure, but I would offer that I’ve been doing recruiting for Mythic for years, and every time I talk to somebody, we go through the required addons, and everybody - EVERYBODY - that I’ve ever talked to is already using weakauras. So I think it’s pretty much universal for Mythic.
But yeah, people totally use it who don’t raid. It’s an amazing tool.
Some non-raid examples for others. Note that when I say “I” have them, that’s nothing special, these are all common uses of the mod:
*I have weakauras to display cooldown times, stacks of buffs, stacks of debuffs on enemies, etc., all in the center of my screen and I can put and resize them any way I want.
*I have weakuras that play sounds when my abilities come off cooldown, or when I get certain proc buffs.
*I have weakauras that only display available abilities when certain other criteria are met. (How many stacks do I have, do I have XX resources, etc.)
*I have a weakura that spins around when my Augment Rune debuff is not currently up.
*I have a weakura during leveling that tells me to pop a guild banner for bonus XP when it’s not on cooldownn.
*I have a weakaura reminding me not to hit the “release” button when I’m in raid (since you’ll always want to wait for wipe recovery instead).
No they can’t, at least not without blocking everyone to it. If I visit the site and DL a script, they have no clue if I am from Limited, my guild or Method. You don’t register you WoW account with Wago IO, so they have no way of knowing who is doing what.
Even if they locked down the script library and charged for access, people would just start uploading scripts to a new site. And people that currently upload their script might now want a piece of the pie.
A lot of weakauras are shared through Pastebin, for example. That’s what we do in our guild, it’s faster and more convenient than putting it up on wago.
Weakauras can export weakauras into a string of text, which you can just cut & paste to any text sharing site, like Pastebin. Or you could just email it to somebody, or paste it on a discord server, or whatever.
Wago is just a sharing library, it is not essential to the use or existence of the Weakauras addon.
my favorite weak aura of all time?
the one that makes your character yell the song, and prints the word to the Dolly and Dot song with an alpaca going over the words in sing-along format at the top of your screen every time someone drops Meerah’s jukebox.
