Supposing this were to move to the Fire tree in some form (which I would not mind at all as it’s among the better-animated) spells…how would you want it implemented?
To me, it would be great if we could somehow repurpose it to replace Hyperthermia in a way that could actively compete with SKB. Now that we’re (presumably) stuck with Incanter’s Flow, I’d really like to see that capstone move away from more RNG. Assuming further that Flamestrike makes a return, I’d also like that capstone to be somewhat ST-focused such that we can still do decent boss damage while in an AoE spec.
Perhaps something like: while in (non-SKB) Combustion, each Fireblast cast has a (~50%+crit%) to drop a Meteor on the target (with damage tuned accordingly), with each Meteor reducing the cooldown on Combustion by (1-2) seconds.
Reasoning: (1) disincentivizes running both SKB and Meteor, as the added FB recharge from Fiery Rush would (in an ideal scenario) outweigh the benefits of running SKB by giving more Meteors/more Combust CDR; (2) provides a burstier Combustion option vs. more Combustions in SKB; and (3) possibly make Crit a slightly better stat for that build.
Just a thought.

Meteor have the same problem as ice comet, position on talent tree.
And both are very good
Since datamined changes have Meteor buffed as well and it is not likely that they would buff a removed ability, most likely it will be moved to Fire tree.
If so, they should just remove the damage split, tune damage and CD to competitive level and put it somewhere in the AoE part of tree as an optional pick. This way, people that like it can play it and people that don’t can skip it and put the talent point into something else with comparable dps increase.

2s cast time, 3s delay until impact, bigger area, no split damage, somewhere around 500% spell power and 1min to 1.5min cooldown and no flame patch on the ground. Just big damage on a delay and a reasonable cooldown. Bonus points if the 3s until impact animation gets changed to a slow descent instead of crashing at the speed of sound.
[Meteor] should be one of the hardest hitting spells in any RPG game, if not the hardest hitting spell unless we can summon a demon god like in FF games.

Completely agreed should it appear in the tree as a non-capstone. I just REALLY want a functional raid build that isn’t centered on hardcasting Pyro, so I hope it doesn’t just replace Hyperthermia as a pure AoE nuke. With RoP finally getting the axe, I’d love to get full mobility back. (Still can’t get an Ice Floes macro to work that doesn’t occasionally just cast it twice - even so, I loathe the hardcasting to begin with and want Shimmer back.)
It could be a capstone if they do it well. Like have it be the big AoE nuke with a long cooldown versus say, [Greater Pyroblast] that’s a big ST nuke with a bit of cleave like Kael’thas’ in Heroes of the Storm.
Get rid of [Pyroclasm] and have greater pyro as a 30s to 45s cooldown big nuke with a long cast time. Like literally move the PvP spell to the PvE tree as a choice node with [Meteor], increase its cooldown and damage and add a 50% cleave up to 5 or 8 targets to it. It should hit really hard though.

It’s in the fire tree why is there going be separate trees ?
