Since no one has mentioned them yet, the Swedish band Hammerfall sounds a lot like an 80s metal band.

I cannot enjoy it, well I suppose if I drink I can to some degree still. I used to love music but since sobriety save for drinking, I just cannot enjoy anything.
Interestingly she and Bonzo died at the same age: 32.

ME! I listen to Metallica, Disturbed, Avenged Seven Fold, AC/DC, Alice In Chains, Guns & Roses, Lynyrd Skynard, Bad Company, Godsmack, Linkin Park, Aerosmith, One Republic, Wolfmother, Hozier and I could keep going. Most days it depends on what Quests I’m doing and dungeons plus raids. Sometimes its “old school” The Runaways, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Scorpions, Motorhead, Styx, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Fall Out Boy, The Who, BOC, Rolling Stones and QUEEN!!..

It doesn’t have to be. There’s lots of heavy metal with clean wholesome vocal talent.
But the edge lord stuff just feels so right.
