Honestly even if it’s not your era a lot of bands shrink in comparison to Tony Martin Sabbath(Shrinking to Dio Sabbath and Oz Sabbath is a given)
Hell, even Ian Gillan’s one album with them could give a lot of crap on the radio a run for its money.
My favourite Ozz album is Sabotage with Black Sabbath a close second.
I can’t imagine a single modern Band pulling off anything close to those.
Well… If you told me a modern Blues Band had something to rival Sabbath’s first album I would listen to it.
I think a large reason Sabbath is so enduring is they were so close to the Blues. And then of course Tony’s biggest influence was Django Rheinhardt, who was primarily Jazz. When Iommi was depressed over his missing fingertips he was pointed to Rheinhardt as Django had a similar accident.
There’s one band that has the raw talent and drive early Sabbath had although Skunk Anansie is more Hard Rock Punk.
Fun Fact: Skunk Anansie album Paranoid and Sunburnt is based off of Skin’s favourite album Paranoid and one of her favourite songs, Snowblind.
And however you classify Skunk Anansie I can always listen to them alongside Metal like Sabbath, Maiden, Dio and others.

I listen to a large variety of music but one I’ve been bangin to lately is metalocolypse/deathklok
Charlie Big Potato is pretty badass. Not saying there isn’t any decent metal since the 90’s but a lot of it is just metal genres I’m not into. I don’t listen to any Sabbath post Ozzy, just never got into any of it. Iommi will always be the king of metal in my eyes, though.
He still came up with some kickarse riffs post Ozzy. Anyways, me favorite Skunk tune by far…

I don’t have a particular metal preference, nor do I prefer any particular metal band. It’s more I like the song itself. Here is a few of them.

Have you seen any of the reaction videos of Du Hast in Paris?
It is so funny the people reacting everyone of then start the vid and as soon as they see Flake on the treadmill stop the video and go " Is that dude on a tradmill? "

Reactions are pretty funny for them. I like one where two grandmas were watching and were totally into it.
I just can’t stand Du Hast so I try to block it out. It’s SO OVERPLAYED here in the states.
I do like when reaction folks pretty much become new fans. I like sharing my knowledge of the band with them. ( hyperfixation pays off sometimes lol )
Lately, my playlist has changed continents…
When I hit play now, I get mostly European/Japanese bands.
Nightwish
Sabaton
Epica
Baby Metal
Band Maid
Within Temptation
Lacuna Coil
Kamelot

I cant remember whats already been posted anymore…
If you work your way through you can find something you will like. Weve covered a lot of ground so far.
Honestly I’ve been kind of stuck when it comes to metal, specifically in the end of the 90s, early 2000s era. Every now and then I stumble upon things that might interest me but usually not for that long… Avatar, Samael (discovered them late) Heilung… but other than that simply can’t seem to get “into it” anymore and instead gravitate towards other genres. The only “newish” band I wish was more active is Twelve Foot Ninja but I wouldn’t call them strictly metal, just like I wouldn’t do the same with Tool, Karnivool or Rishloo.
But yeah, they deserve more attention:

Eh no harm in sticking to the past like that. If you’re happy with it then no harm done.
I’m getting old… and my mood has changed a lot too.
Rob Zombie but yea thats pretty dated.
