Meta Mentality

After hitting level 40 a few days ago I started to notice that dungeon groups are very similar to Mythic+ meta style now.

Basically if you don’t play a warrior(tank), priest(healer), or mage. You will not get into any groups past 40. This is extremely annoying and disappointing. I also know this to be true because I’m now 45 and haven’t gotten into a single ZF group for 3 days.

So while people are farming 70-80k xp per hour in dungeons, I have to sit out and do quests getting maybe 10-20k xp per hour. I’m considering re-rolling, but it sure pains me to waste 45 levels for nothing. I play Warlock.

Edit: I should note that questing is also very limited. I’ve cleared every quest zone that you can start at 40-46 range besides south STV. It’s extremely slow not being able to weave in at least 1-2 dungeons per few levels.

Welcome to vanilla class imbalance.

Because these people still think blasting thru dungeons is the fastest way to level. It’s kind of not. Also, people not inviting warlocks to AoE dungeon grinding groups is kind of stupid, because locks have arguably good AoE as well.

at this point the level 40’s are ahead of the main curve.
i also have noticed a difference in attitudes and also the sheer number of groups.

it seems like the bulk of the crowd is between deadmines and Sm lib.
are you in a big guild? i would try to get into a more traditional group anyway.

the speed running thing is more stressful and usually less productive.

Welcome to the inevitable 2019 gaming community.

Did people really not think Retail wouldn’t bleed out into this?

I have never run into this issue, personally.

My guild is all 60 pretty much, so I don’t have anyone to play with and my friends are still in the 20s.

And when you get to 60 and start pvping, you are literally going to crap on those mages and priests so hard they are gonna think about rerolling. Don’t worry about it.

What class are you?

It’s early in the game. Everyone is farming dungeon xp to level asap. Try to coordinate guild group and spend time being social in the game and make friends you can ask to run groups.
This way you can complete quests req for dungeons and the like.
Honestly even as a priest I spend my time doing professions and grinding kons for said Prof mats. Make free bags for mats etc and have many friends over time. When I want to run i organize one for later in the evening or the next day.
Make sure I have all the sharable quests or help someone I met get caught up in a chain.

There’s alot of ways to enjoy the game outside of dungeons. personally I never pass up windfury totem before getting a rogue and warrior dps in my grp with our bear druid.

Classic is about smelling the flowers. Hopefully things change for you. Have patience the meta will relax.

You’re 100% right, I’ve mained warlock since 2007 and I really want to finish my warlock, but it’s a grind no doubt.

You know what I’m going to say…right?

Make your own group.

Also: I did SM Cathedral/Library/Armory last night with a shield and axe i bought off the AH. Even as ret we face rolled the dungeons. I litteraly had a weapon skill of 1 the first pull and we still did fine. And people want specific classes?

ROFL.

This was the holy trinity in Vanilla. This isn’t a Retail thing.

Make friends with a warrior or priest, and tag along as a deeps?

Plus, i highly doubt they are 3maning, or are you implying 1war, 1priest, and 3 mages? I mean, i love having a mage tag along for obvious reasons, but I’ve never seen a group be impartial to any other dps, assuming a single mage is already present…

That’s the thing though, I know the less picked classes can do insane damage and even tank(bears), but they get ignored.

Hoping that it’s just tourists.

Those retail people are in for a surprise at 60 when they realize that doing what they do will not result in free purple gear.

That’s a hardcore guild. People in the late 20’s early 30’s are walking around in gigantic mobs there are so many of us.

Most tanks won’t join unless you have windfury or running 3 mage xp farm. They’re very rare. We’ve looked for upwards of a hour before.

People will generally prefer to go into a dungeon with a specific comp or absent specific classes (for loot reasons).

I don’t think you mentioned the class you play. If your class can tank/heal then you can just make your own groups. Don’t expect anyone to feel bad for a DPS Warrior or Druid who refuses to tank some.
