Meta and FOMO classes, how they affect the game

Do the devs pay attention to how metas, and tier lists affects the quality of their game? If you don’t play the FOMO X class, you don’t get to play the big boy content. Anyone else feel like teir lists and metas…fomo…etc ruin some of the quality of the game overall?

Meta has been a thing since players started clearing dungeons. It’s always going to be a thing.

They can’t change human nature., and there’s no way to balance everything identically…

I know, but would it be possible to get each class within say 10% of each other with respect to their role type?

But there’s always going to be that 1 class that ekes out 1 percent more than everybody else and they’re going to be flavor of the month…you can’t stop it.

well yeah, I cannot code the game! I would screw this system up. I guess ill go back into my hole and not run FOMO classes!

You know what would happen then? Players on the forum would whine. Know what would happen if they were within 3%? Players on the forum would whine. Know what would happen if th8ey were within .1%? Players would whine. If they were equal? Players would whine about something else they they dem unfair.

This is an mmorpg, we need diversity.

I do agree with diversity, I think we can agree FOMO does affect that negatively as well. There has to be a cleaver middle ground somewhere thats not 100% equal and like boring.

Meta is always going to be there.

All we will ever do in this game is copy the best players.

Yeeeeah but it was less of a thing people REALLY worried about until timers and m+ were added to the game.

now you’re onto something!

you never played the game before mythic+ or you never raided back in the day then, never did rbgs, never did arenas, ect. lol

Even in vanilla dungeons people wanted x class and x spec, all raids were the same. Every single one of them.

some of that was due to debuff limits on bosses…etc that was fixed later on. Some dps classes back then could not use their full kit due to game design.

Meta was more of a thing on the pvp side sure cause there were ratings involved. Once ratings and timers were introduced to pve, meta became really bad and someone was punished for not following. I’ve played this game since release when pvp was SS v TM or Ungoro Crater. I fully recognize meta has been a thing always. I’m just saying it’s worse now than before.

Even if there was, would we be as excited to play without this drama?

Rerolling to the meta classes is the original time played metric manipulator

haha, fair point. I think it could be toned down some though and maybe they are indeed trying with the constant changes.

Even when I was focused on end game I never paid much attention to the meta. Most classes and specs are close enough that the content was clearable with any raid make up. This only became a bigger issue with M+

It is pretty hard to find guilds/ or groups that recruit non fomo classes for any role. I could be wrong though?

What the holy heck is a fomo class?

are we just randomly adding that Acronym to random concepts?
