People racing to 60 to do molten core once a week are seriously missing out on classics fantastic immersion and stories.
I’m lvl 37 and actually don’t want to get to 60 any time soon. Every zone is just such a joy to experience. I have the music turned up and you really feel why this game is so legendary.
Levelling up, killing mobs, doing professions along the way is what classic was indented to be.
I really do recommend distancing yourself from the retail mindset about endgame, and experience classic in its entirety while you level.
The game will be around for a long time and you will have tons and tons of time at 60 to do raiding and battlegrounds.

The problem is that the leveling gameplay itself isn’t actually engaging; most of your DPS comes from autoattack/autowand or mash 2 followed by drinking every mob. Leveling was the game in Vanilla because it was all new; anyone who played back then has already experienced all this, so it is just a slog now. It is not hard, just tedious. It’s actually kind of alarming how many people think these two mean the same thing.

Rushing to sixty was fun, now PTO has been spent and it’s back to reality. Many people have hit cap on classic and private multiple times. I’ll take a slower approach on an alt.

I didn’t get the chance to have many toons lvled back in the day, and I only spent a little time on pservers a few years ago. Most of the lvling is either “new enough” or forgotten about entirely, so the slow approach is really enjoyable.
However, many people had multiple 60’s in vanilla and/or pservers and have done all this stuff a dozen times. Eventually you get to the point that you just want to power through it quickly to get to specific things you care about at high lvls.
In either case, no one is playing wrong. Let people enjoy the game how they want to enjoy it.

I’m not feeling any need to speed up the journey

Why does it worry you how others choose to play the game?

Never understand that. We all pay, so we should be able to play as we like, as long as it doesn’t disrupt anyone else. there is really no right or wrong way to play this game, despite what some think.

If people are that miserable while playing the game, they should do the reasonable thing and not play the game. It is optional, you know.
If engaging for you is autoattacking while you watch netflix, OK

Nice strawman! Whack it good.
It all depends how you look at it. Not everyone just auto attacks. And you actually have to read the quest texts. You’re not just following arrows and sparkles on the ground.
Some may like it but some may not. And it’s not people thinking they mean the same thing. Some find it more challenging, some find it more tedious, some find it more exciting and engaging.
I’m sorry you don’t.
I spent my time back in the day racing to 60. Now I’m just fumbling along enjoying the ride.
To paraphrase someone in another thread,
“I play Dark Souls only to fight the last boss.”
Real life gets in the way to do any speed leveling. I have 110 hours PTO but didn’t use any on WoW. Just playing in the evenings after work and all Labor Day weekend. I’d do the same this weekend but I’m at work. Overtime > leveling for me because I’m a greedy bastard.
Still happy with my progress… just over a week and about to hit 37. I’d be 50+ had I taken a week off… but chose not to.
As far as leveling is concerned, it’s the same grind I remember from vanilla.

Knocks mug of mead on table, “Hear, hear”.
to each their own. some people only care about ‘end game’ stuff or wanted to race to 60 or don’t particularly like the adventure to 60.
I enjoy the entire ride, if i didn’t i wouldn’t be playing.
