Brann dont show any option or skip to me, you close the recapitulation book wiht the x?
Iâm in the same boat, no quest from brann. I suspect he had already completed the story with another toon.

Ya! I am in process of working through return to Dornogal. I have fullfilled all the prerequsites, and have done all of the quests leading up to this..
I am standing in Foundation hall, supposed to meet up with Merrix and for days heâs a no show. Ive restarted the quest, the game, reloaded the UI, waited and nothing. heâs just not here. I canât move forward with the Campaign. Ugh.

Same issue. I returned to retail after a couple years, just to realize blizzard is still terrible. After more than a week and there is no decent solution, or at least a blue post acknowledging the problem.
Easy solution for me: Got my refund immediately.

So, I dunno if this will help anyone out but it did work for me. In the adventure guide, you can find the War Within quest line. It prompted me to go to Silithus, along with a scroll to port there. Took it, opted to skip to Dornegal and complete quests chains.
Had the same problem most did and this is what worked.
where/who gave you the option to skip? Iâve tried to do the original questline but it bricked in dalaran - didnt see any skip options
I donât know yet if itâs âfixedâ for me, but hereâs what seems to be working:
I did the catchup and got stuck at âReturn to Dornogalâ like the others here. No Merrix.
I abandoned it entirely and did the whole questline again. Ended up in the same spot.
Sometime during those two runs, I had accepted and started the The War Within questline from my Adventurerâs Journal to try and get past it (the one where you meet Jaina and Thrall in Silithus).
If youâre level 80 like I am, youâll want to turn on âShow Low-Level Questsâ in settings so the NPCs will show the quests.
I had to make sure I was exited from the Tome (no âRecapâ banner on the right side). Then I had to find out where I was on the TWW questline. I looked it up on wowhead (âThe War Withinâ) and followed the steps. It was kind of hard to remember since I had done some of the quests 3 times now between the Recap and Campaign. I ended up finding where I left off in Dalaran (the one in the BROKEN ISLES, not Northrend. Portal in the 2nd level of mage quarters portal rooms in Stormwind).
Doing that led me through the Dalaran quests, then the Isle of Dorn campaign. I did this for HOURS. Itâs a long campaign compared the catchup. Youâll end up doing the same quests you did in the catchup, but a bunch of other quests as well.
Once I got past the Ringing Depths campaign, I went back to the Tome and it offered me a new quest chain, no longer stuck on Shadowy Pursuits.
So Iâm back in the Tome right now, trying to do the catch up, but Iâm progressing. Doing the full campaign did get me to a point where I could fly in Dornogal, so I know Iâm not trapped in the same phase.
Hope this helps someone. Good luck all! I hate that a lot of us are returning to the game after years away and get stuck with this frustration.

This was the workaround. I had to do the full campaign up through the Ringing Deeps (maybe could have stopped before, but thatâs the point I checked the tome) and was finally able to jump back into the Catch Up and finish it out. I finally finished and have access to all of the end game stuff.
Relieved to be past it, but super frustrated that I spent hours and hours doing stuff I shouldnât have had to with no guidance from Blizzard.
Well, it finally worked for me. You have to go to the Adventure Guide (not the recap book) and look for the option to start the War Within campaign. Just a heads up â itâs not in the Chromie Time book; itâs in the actual Adventure Guide. Thatâs where they finally gave me the starting quest (which wasnât showing up for me before).
I completed the quests until I reached Dornogal, and once you turn in the quest where you see Merrix sitting on the throne, go back to the recap book and return to the room where Merrix is supposed to be. Heâll be there, ready for you to turn in the quest and finish War Within.
Now my only question is, why am I not getting any world PvP quests? If anyone can help, Iâd appreciate it.

If you have not previously completed the War Within Campaign, you cant do the RECAP. You will find youself bugged as you described. This happened to me as well.
You need to drop the Recap completely and go through the quest from the starting quest Jaina gives you to go to Sithilus. Do the Campaign through your Adventure Guide. If you are already level 80 make sure you turn on âShow low level questsâ.
Itâs not a bug, you cant do the RECAP if you havent previously finished the Campaign the traditional way. You need to drop the RECAP and go through the entire quest the normal way.
The entire point of recap is to not need to do the full questline. Itâs a feature for returning players who want to catch up on the story before Midnight.

Exactly, which while I appreciate peopleâs work arounds, as a new player trying to get ready for midnight, this is off putting.

you were able to turn the quest in as a new player with no previous characters being done with campaign? going to see if itâs fixed for me when i get home
This problem can be easily fix. I returned to WoW with Shadowlands being my last xpac, Just spend a nice afternoon doing the main campaign quest line with a letâs say a feral druid. Itâs super fast and that Prowl will get you through quests faster than the RecapâŚ. After you killed Dimensius in Story mode you can log in back with your other toons and turn in the quest, Merrix will be there to accept it. Honestly I enjoyed the quest line better than the Recap, plus you get better gear and itâs way more fun.

It is fixed for me too now. I used a âget character to 80â on a new alt, and that didnât fix it for me. I then went through the whole TWW questline with a different alt, and when she finished up, Merrix was back in the throne room for my main, and she could turn in. So needing a character who has done the main questline in order to âCatch Upâ seems consistent with my experience.
