Mermaids in Azeroth Confirmed

That is not an elf it has mermaid skin plus look it has a very long pink mermaid tail so mermaids are confirmed. Might be a future underwater xpac considering that Queen Azshara is now after another throne of power and back in cata, Queen Azshara was desperate to gain Neptunes seat of power, as we saw in nazjatar, Neptunes servants were attacking Nazjatar and even neptulon himself as seem in the water wall. We haven’t really explored his realm except for a dungeon, also recently confirmed in Shadowlands is that, there is indeed another side of Azeroth west of kalimador and east of EK where ships are never seen again.

Wait Garth NIX and Cat Valente? Holy heck, WHAT?

It’s okay. I know it was a bad joke, but still a joke.

Easy there champ, weird thing to get salty about. I don’t think that you understood my post, it’s not intended to crush your dreams of having mermaids in-game lol

Well spotted I didn’t connect all the dots on the tail right away but that is quite a tail . . . but Zemekkis has a point too - folk lore and fairy tales includes fictitious beasts and creatures as a core feature. It doesn’t necessarily mean they actually exist in Azeroth.

Technically no, however in the tram that goes from and to stormwind and ironforge there sometimes is a naga that is named mermaid in the giant water tank area you go through the tram in. Which, indicates perhaps some iterations of mermaids at the time when they made that were also made to look like naga which was also very confusing.

However, Naga are mainly tied to the night elves who changed while following Azshara’s path and made a deal with NZoth which is what you see in the warbringer Azshara cinematic where you see multiple other naga around her when she strikes the deal with Nzoth. They’re just nelf fishies.

Yeah but “naga siren” is a common name for lots of them. Sirens tend to be mermaids. Naga are fish people. I always assumed they were wow’s idea of what mermaids were in this world.

You may be reading too much into that cover art.

For example, in the lower left portion, there is what appears to be a “cute” kobold with pickaxe and candle :candle: on its head, and we all know cute kobolds cannot exist.

Yeah, I mean you’re really not wrong hence why I said technically but also that there was a point where a naga coined as ‘mermaids’. I think they try to iterate mermaids in a lot of different ways based on the mermaid legends considering there are sirens in BFA in…tirigarde? That noticeably look different from actual naga in some ways, but are the same type of sirens that a lot of sailors were often tied to in legends. And throughout a lot of legends of mermaids their appearance is sometimes different from actual half human half fish stories, to actual ideas of women that don’t necessary look so human on the upper half in an exquisite beauty sense.

So, while most naga are tied to Azshara, I think there are some exceptions to the Naga appearances that they use for mermaids to some degree.

What I’m curious about is if the mermaid on that book cover is an actual creature that exists or if it’s a distortion of reality and it’s actually a naga or a tiriguard siren. Since these are folk tale stories.
