Edit: For those in a similar predicament, I’ve detailed in post 11 a brief explanation of what you can expect to happen.
In short, I had an account from classic and onward with several legacy achievements and items, but later made another account (this one) for personal reasons and have since played on this one primarily. My old account had several things like the Argent Dawn tabard, the Olympic’s tabard (I forgot the exact name), and etc.
The FAQ states the following:
Will move
Will not move
Game account and expansions
Unused character boosts
All characters and their inventory, bank and void storage
Items in the Collections Journal including mounts, pets, toys, wardrobe items, and heirlooms
Character-specific achievements
Account-bound achievements
Gold and other currencies
Honor Level
Game time
My question is, if I log into a character that obtained said items and achievements, will they transfer then? Or would I be losing those legacy items and pets?
Anything that is battle.net bound, will not transfer at all. It will remain back on the original account. Logging into the character will not bring back any pets/achievements/etc. This is true for both individual character transfers to a different battle.net account as well as if you have Billing move the old wow account to a different battle.net
If memory serves, very old accounts that have NOT been logged in to since before things became account bound, still have items bound at char level. In theory those should move if the license is moved over.
Thank you both for your responses. I have since used the other account, so the items and pets are under it; however, I did find this post here from the EU forums of someone in a similar situation and it seems they were able to get said items restored in some manner: https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17289321138
It’s possible that back then GMs may have been given a little bit of leeway for that sort of thing, but it would have been a pretty big exception. Back then it was an exception just to get the account moved. Nowadays, it’s a bit easier to do, but limitations haven’t changed.
Your question was if they’ll transfer over and the answer is definitely not. As for whether or not a GM could help out afterwards, I wouldn’t count on it. Those items are meant to stay bound to the old account.
I’m not using it as a source, I’m using it as an example. This is someone that’s undergone a similar process and I’m well aware I cannot expect the same results. You’ll have to forgive me if I’m a bit anxious about undergoing this sort of thing. Even if I don’t play on that account anymore, it’d still feel like a major loss. This is why I’m hoping I might hear from others that have gone through something similar or from an agent that may have answers as to if this might apply to my situation.
The tabards will remain on the character. You might be able to purchase a spare via the guild tabard vendor as an insurance policy. Nobody, especially a Blizzard Agent will be able to guarantee anything, as it’s complicated and a case by case scenario.
If you can cage it and transfer it to your secondary account, I’d do that.
I believe they’ll move purchased mounts and pets, as well–those bought with real money, I mean. Beyond that, yeah, only anything in the character’s inventory will move, and Blizzard will not replace anything else. This is including super-rare or limited-time mounts like the Warlord’s Deathwheel or Ashes of A’lar.
Only character specific mounts such as warlock or paladin class mounts would transfer over with those particular characters. Not even store bought mounts or pets will transfer to a different battle.net account as they are soulbound to the account they were purchased on.
I went ahead and got the accounts merged and decided it’d be best to leave a summary of what all would occur here. Here are the most significant things I’ve noticed:
• I received a good sum of character-specific achievements that I had on the older accounts, which in turn gave me a few legacy achievements (WoW’s 4th Anniversary, for example).
• After logging into the characters which earned them, my account did receive the Competitor’s Tabard and the Tabard of the Argent Dawn.
• My account did NOT receive the Baby Blizzard Bear pet. I repeat: Your Baby Blizzard Bear will NOT be obtained on the account being transferred to. You also will NOT be able to get it back via ticketing or any other Support avenue as of yet.
• On point with the previous post, it should be noted that the email account under which you did earn the Baby Blizzard Bear does still have it. I created a trial version and confirmed it.
• Lastly, I should clarify that, despite their willingness to help, the agents are not at liberty to grant such pets. They did all they could within the limits they have to work in.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the agents for all my help. They were kind and professional. And I hope my experience helps someone else that may be considering the same with an older accounts of theirs.
