A simple solution to curving the power gap would be to do exactly what they do at max lvl and scale all gear up to a minimum ilvl for all players in the BG. In the case of leveling they could just make the minimum ilvl of all players in the BG the equivalent of dungeon Blue ilvl for the max level of said bracket… seems like a great all around fix for all players involved. This would allow people who want to level in BG’s (the few crazy people) to keep running BG’s all day without farming new gear, and it would allow people who just really enjoy twinking to get regular queue pops all hours of the day in all brackets without having the most insane power advantage imaginable on the players with XPon
Yea it would help PvP to flourish because Twink PvP is extremely important. It also would create more variety PvP because you can Twink at a lot of brackets now.
Twinking was a scourge on low level PvP and it should stay in its own area.
The only argument for merging the 2 again is so twinks who don’t want to fight in their own weight class can punch down again. And that’s a terrible idea.
The only reason to twink is so you can dumpster non twinks and that’s a fact. Proven by when they put twinks vs twinks it basically died overnight.
So no don’t return to the predatory state it was in before.
By completely dissuade new and returning players away from Pvp because they got decimated ?
Not because they were outplayed but because the other guy is sitting BiS at the top of the bracket Hazing levelers through the bracket like they are some “gatekeeper” of the bracket.
I remember when I twinked back in TBC. I was also useless at pvp so that’s what I did to feel relevant.
That’s the whole point in making a Twink. It’s why we love gear based PvP.
You do realize that Max level players are just Twinks too right? The goal is too outgear your opponents and Min/Max so you create an advantage. The whole point of the game is to Twink.
the general consensus is pvp leveling was the most fun during legion due to everyone getting a template. the template got stronger with more stamina/mainstat the higher the toons ilvl was. at the most i think it was 15% stronger. the drawback was you couldn’t min/max your stats and go full glass cannon.
the popularity of remix is because players finally got to understand what twinking is and it looks like they enjoyed stacking stats. some players even asked for remix bgs. lol.
In any other pvp game the objective is to be better at you know… the game and thats what decides who wins. Not who ever can pour more hours into the game farming gear.
Then you can enjoy twinking vs other people twinking. Its still there as an option you just don’t get to twink and then punch down on people not doing it so satisfy some weird power fantasy.
Templates didn’t exist in WPvP and they were the most hated feature ever added too PvP. The Devs agreed because it removed the RPG aspect of the game so Templates were removed.
The only good thing about Legion WPvP is no Templates meant you were a god in WPvP so that was fun. You could 1v5 and have a good time as intended in a gear based game however Instanced PvP was unplayable because of Templates.
This is a contradiction. If you are good at the game then you have no issue acquiring BiS gear. You can Raid, Min/Max farm the very best items. So you are the better player. Which is why gear based PvP is the REAL PvP. It’s a test of Power and Skills.
This is what mmo Andies want. Not people who actually care about a competitive space.
There doesn’t need to be 2 separate advantages separating good players from bad ones like there is in this game. One being time spent neckbearding gear and the other general experience and skill.
Then you have a choice. Level out of the bracket so the Twinks aren’t a concern to you. Or turn exp off and compete. Which again the game is about Twinking whether it’s at low level or max level. At the end of the day we are all Twinks.
If you enjoy being a Max level Twink that is fine however it’s the core aspect of gear based PvP. Which is why we play WoW. I’m not sure why you only hate low level Twinks when they are literally not a problem if you are going to avoid them by leveling.
Of course this is an MMO it’s why we play MMO’s. Stop trying to turn this game into something it’s not.
Rather have MMO PvP thanks Esports and competitive PvP doens’t fit into this genre.
Wrong it’s why we play this game. Players want to have gear advantages in a gear based game. Go figure. It’s why we log in!! It’s why Templates were hated!! We want to chase after Godly power items then own up other players in PvP. That is the lure of an MMO it’s about POWER progression of your character. Then testing that POWER against other players.
Wrong good designed games with Class roles and great Power progresson have that. For example it should take 2-3 Dps to kill a geared Healer and 3-5 Dps to kill a geared Tank solo. That is good balance. It’s an MMO and needs to fill Class Fantasy power.
No PvP was better in old expansions. PvP is best in this game when powerful items existed for players to chase after like Legendaries. WoW devolved the last few expansions but seems to be getting back too it’s roots when it was a better game.
It’s the CORE of this type of game. Of course there is a lot of that. If you remove the RPG aspect of the game (gear power) then there is NO REASON to even play. That’s why Templates failed it removed the reason to play.
Having a power advantage isn’t unfair. They went out played the game and attained better gear and are more powerful. That is actually really fair. It’s REAL PvP.
We play these typs of games because we want to be Thanos and go around collecting the Infinity gems attaining vast power and then dominating our enemies. We want Class fantasy and power progression to immerse into.
Now skill is one thing but POWER is the core aspect of the game. If you aren’t powerful enough be like Thor and don’t rush in to fight Thanos but instead go on a Epic quest to have a God killing weapon made for you in the heart of a dying star. (this is why we play MMO’s with Class fantasy)
At the end of the day the Class Fantasy and Power progression are the most important aspect of the game and then honing your skills around that power. Players wanting to remove the power are in the wrong game. It’s players like you that don’t even understand what type of game you signed up for.
Actually apparently most players hated that which is why the full conquest set is the best PvP gear you can get. No upgrades.
Or the alternative that would be more common especially in the game today where you can buy gold is they went and pulled out their wallet and payed to get carried to the overpowered pve gear and thus have a huge advantage because of the money they have and not ability to play the game.
Perhaps it is you in the wrong game. Because templates still exist just you have to spend a few hours buying the set and then everyone is at the same ilvl.
Btw we need to get Lord Sidious in this thread with how many times power is being said he would love it in here.
I remember having multiple toons and having a blast… I think some players didn’t like it because of the lack of customization on stats.
It does not surprise me that players didn’t like it because they couldn’t fulfill their power fantasy of being a “god at the game”
As I said I twinked in early expansions when I was trash at pvp because it was the only pvp I could do without getting wrecked at max level not knowing what I was doing. It seems to be common theme amongst the players that twink. All gear, lacking skill etc.
