PvP at raids and for buffs are perfectly okay reasons to pvp. Battling to prevent the other faction from gaining power.

The difference is the intent. You come across someone while questing you fight. You win or lose. Whoever died has to run back to their corpse you both move on with your life. Maybe you see each other again and you both know it is go time and you fight once more.
On the other hand. Sitting at a dungeon to specifically prevent people from entering that dungeon is griefing. Your only purpose there is to make someone else time worse. The more you waste their time, the more enjoyment you have. That is what griefing is.
If this was the past that griefing situation would have led to world PVP. However, the general player base no longer has the mindset of “protect my faction”. So you don’t have every max level pvper randomly swarming zones because a war broke out due to a griefer.
Like I said the last time this really occurred (outside of the AQ Event) was before battlegrounds were released and everyone and their mother was hungry for honor.
I have world pvp’d all the way through classic and pvp. I’ll admit now it’s now possible, but it was before wit population. Idk you’re making things up.
A horde asking for a server merge that gives horde 55/45 edge. Too funny. I loled
I’ve been staying out of “these threads” but it would be 55% ally, 45% horde. So it would be alliance-dominated. People realize that right? Based on the actual numbers.
I do get that most, like 80%+, of the people on these servers, wanted a PVE server to begin with but were more interested in raid quality so they went to PVP server for that. So due to that, they made the servers essentially PVE. So the chance of making the servers anything that is not essentially PVE is something to get angry about. The idea of having danger in the world instead of being able to half AFK and watch Netflix is not something they are interested in. Got to be safe and got to follow a script, no fun allowed.
What makes people think everyone actually wants to pvp on pvp servers? The minority action will just leave. But the benefit is at least we’ll have benediction and one giant horde pvp server equivalent when the split does happen.
Edit: If i could transfer my toons anywhere and change factions, it would probably Benediction. Mankrik is far from dying, but so many people are raid logging, it’s hard to find groups sometimes. Benediction is ridiculous.
merge benediction+earthfury+herod.
Grobbulus still does this
and now I want to transfer to Grob.
Why not both?
I’d rather commit ritual sudoku if Grobbulus got merged with the cancer that is Bene.
You’re writing to put the last server with a soul and actual pvp with the psuedo PVE retail andy server.
You do realize the majority of PvP servers are, “retail andy” servers and entirely Horde controlled?
Horde or alliance doesn’t matter, he’s right.
“last server with a soul and actual pvp with the psuedo PVE retail andy server.”… I’d add more words too but that sums it up.
Your initial reaction to this thread was fear that your PVE-like server would turn into anything but that, that’s because you don’t like PVP servers, even though if the merge did happen (and don’t worry - there’s pretty much no chance that’s on the table) you’d be on the majority side.
The thing is the PVE servers have stayed really steady with their populations and balance, so those are a lot more authentic community-wise and a lot more like real TBC servers than most of these current “PVP” Retail lite servers are. For now anyway.
I played on Whitemane since Classic launch. It started out as one of the most balanced, but in the years since it’s gotten ridiculously Horde favoured. After years of being the underdog - not being able to do anything in the world - and with the advent of flying mounts, world PvP as the underdog wasn’t fun. At no point did I manage to find 1v1’s after the initial leveling phase in TBCC.
After dealing with it for so long - long death runs to SSC, unable to do heroics easily due to a dwindling population and no summoning stone access, and an economy getting worse I transferred to a server so I could actually enjoy the game, and I do enjoy it a lot.
It’s not that I hate PvP servers, or world PvP. It’s that it’s just not feasible on a dying population on a server that the enemy faction controls.
In Classic PvP servers were more fun, to an extent, and some events were much better with PvP. But this was also during the time we had a roughly even population. On a skewed population it’s terrible for the underdog.
I have no desire to return to a PvP server in TBC now. Not with Isle and MH. Also, having just transferred, I’d rather they not fiddle.
It’s a shame to see healthy servers divebomb to bandwagoners.
Keep your eyes on the prize, don’t give blizzard any rest from this lack of inaction.
I think there’s two kinds of people that roll on PVP servers. Some people like the potential danger that exists and others want big time battles in the zones. Even when TBC was current, I don’t remember the latter happening too often.
I agree with you. My server was the same in Classic - mostly 50/50 for all of Classic. There was a real server community. Anyone on that server paying attention can tell you of its story… and it’s the same with every PVP server, that has now been decimated and absorbed into some soulless server that “you can find fast groups on” but the only community is community pockets and that’s about it. I don’t find this fun, and I am even on the Bene discord (because I was researching the server for my alliance who I decided not to put there), and even the drama section all just talk about American politics and stuff that I don’t care about so I don’t find that fun either. If you like this all that’s ok.
I know my server (for this character) is 99% horde. I had characters on both sides and I watched the alliance side die (mostly not to PVP tensions for us but due to some ally guilds trying to “recruit better”) and I hate what happened and I don’t want to play a single faction version of WoW when I could get that same experience from some other MMO if I wanted that. So I mostly raid log my druid now.
That’s ok, you admit it, I don’t think you did anything wrong with leaving Whitemane and it’s good you did NOT go to Grobbulus and skew the ally population more and same to all allies that pick Bene and would prefer just to have a PVE server now.
Exactly, thats why the PVP servers that are Alliance dominated (aka Benediction) should be merged to form a more balanced environment.
I have brought this idea up at Bennediction General Chat and the responses I get are pretty funny. I agree they need to be merged or something. Players want to hide on a mega pvp server that is essentially a PVE realm now. Would be funny to watch if that happened how many people would transfer off Faerlina and Bennediction. I’m enjoying my time on Grobb. The one server where World PVP does happen some.
Its like, Benediction is only a “PVP” server on paper. Either move Benediction to PVE server or merge them with horde realms to ya know… actually have pvp.
I hope Grobs Wpvp lives a long and prosperous life.
