Anyone think this will ever happen? RP has declined and declined on small servers like mine, and when once I could walk into the Blue Recluse and see five or six different RPs going on at once, it’s completely deserted now. Heck, even Stormwind on my server will only have five or six people in it at random times now. I miss seeing it, and it seems like all RP is now found on either Moon Guard or Wyrmrest Accord. I personally would love to be merged with these servers.
Moonguard is a mess of lag, especially in Stormwind.
A LOT of tech upgrades will be needed to make this happen.

I made the move manually.
I think it’d probably be better to do it yourself than forcibly move everyone who does not want to go to MG or WrA. I rolled up new characters with TWW and it’s become my main since I didn’t want to spend money for transfer.
And yeah, everyone being on MG has downsides since the server tech really can’t handle that much activity in the old world anymore.
Two of the RP servers are ‘full’
If I wanted my characters to be on Moonguard or Wyrmrest, they would already be on them. We (Thorium Brotherhood) already got forcibly connected to Silver Hand and Farstriders over a decade ago, which I would have rather not have happened. I have a few characters on MG (none on WrA), but I absolutely don’t want my other RP-realm characters (not just TB/SH/Farstriders but the single character I still have left on Cenarion Circle, my original realm in '05 before Thorium Brotherhood was brought online) merged-into those larger realms.

I can’t imagine having so many people that the cities are laggy. I’ve been with the people in my guild for around 14 years, and I just don’t see everyone picking up and moving servers.
That’s awesome.
Now that guilds can be cross-server and cross-faction it’s easier than ever to do a move though. Just have a few pioneers set up shop, they invite people to groups so that we can see you in Stormwind or Silvermoon (Org is relatively light on RP even on WrA), and bam – you all get a taste of if the MG/WrA life is for you.
First of all, they’d need to think of something to do with names for an actual merge (not just a battlegroup kinda thing), and no one is more covetous of their names than roleplayers, so that’s no vote #1.
But more importantly… I made a MG alt once, a throwaway just to walk around, and as lovely as it was to see so much activity, the game as a game isn’t built for that much saturation of populace. It’s busted as hell.
If they ever address the tech reality, and I don’t know if that happens in our lifetime, I’d love to have the option to experience what Moonguard has in regards to community presence. Even a visitation system would be problematic without new tech because again… the game does not work with processing that many people.

I’m on WRA and I don’t want to be merged into MG. 
ETA: I’d also lose this toon’s name since there’s an Anzath on MG… absolutely not.
Also, have created toons on smaller RP servers before on purpose. And those purposes generally involved the servers being smaller.

IMO they should have only Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord, update their tech to allow for more people on them without all the lag, force first and last name for all characters on the RP realms, give free transfers from other RP realms to these two realms, and strictly enforce naming conventions again.
WRA is notably smaller than MG. There’s still mild city lag and noticeable lag when fighting Reshanor. There would have to be major technical changes to make an all RP server merger not incredibly laggy.

Per DfA: MG is 57k, WRA is 39k. There’s still other RP servers like Emerald Dream (19k) and Earthen Ring (9k).
Some people like smaller, quieter servers. There’s really no reason in the current state of the game to shut down a server.

I would love it if we had this from the word go, but to reimpose this now at this point in the game when we have so many workarounds would be foolish.
Besides, I get a kick sometimes out of seeing someone named Prettyelffeet for the second before TRP3 finishes loading them as Shas’dorah Treebreeze.

I hope not. As much as I enjoy RPing on MG, I don’t want that crap on Sentinels.
Heck, I don’t even want to be merged with some of the other smaller RP servers after seeing their attitudes in chat with CRZ.

Why stop at just RP servers? And not only merge, but close! 90% of all servers are ghost towns and they only keep adding more. It’s like they’re expecting the game to jump back up to the high millions of active players.
There’s zero reason for any of this.
There haven’t been new Retail servers since Wrath.
