The Merc mode is a tool being used to keep Hord and indirectly Alliance ques times down.
As others have stated over and over without this is place, all Que times would be much longer.
It’s about keeping the BGs full. The Player population PvPing is “low” and this is just what has been implemented to keep them alive.
thats not how it works, faction balance was bad before we had merc mode and thats why they made it
getting rid of it now would do nothing for faction balance

The correlation being, people pick the populated faction to play BGs.
Let me rephrase my statement then.
Getting rid of Merc mode would be better for faction BG, and to a lesser degree Wpvp, balance.

I disagree, it would cause any Horde players who can’t/won’t wait for Q’s to reroll.
Right now those players are catered to with Merc mode.

120 horde queues are not that bad tbh. 5-10 mins or so for non epics
i dont like epics and have not done them since the split to say what they are like
If there are a larger number of people choosing one faction over the other, the questions that needs to be asked, at Blizzard developer’s meetings are… Why and how do we fix this?
Is is a story problem or is it faction mechanics… the list goes on, but what options have been tried?
Was Merc mode a band aid solution that was implemented and then never removed?
Is the there still an open wound under it?
Most players would not reroll just for random BGs. They have guilds/communities/mythic+ teams/raid groups/rated BG teams…
you could definitely call it a band aid, as for the under lying problem its hard to say how bad that really is right now
Those que times, are those including the Merc mode mechanic, or straight Hord ques?

thats about what you get if you play as horde right now. merc mode is a factor but we dont have the data to tell us by how much
I’m very okay with racial abilities being strictly cosmetic/convenience. Like two additional bag slots or more experience gained from killing mechs rather than a miniature bloodlust or stealth while stationary.
Alliance already has papa roach evanescence elves, which I assume you’re aware of seeing as though you’re playing one.

Tbh just take blood elves from us and half the horde will migrate over. We don’t need those naruto runners anyway.

We saw it happen in WoD though…granted that was because of racials.
Whole guilds/communites switched sides…
I believe if Merc mode was removed, and many Horde players simply couldn’t BG due to Q time constraints, you would have more people coming to the Alliance.

Not over just random BGs…
Right.
It’s easy for us to envision re-rolls for queue times’ sake because all we do is BG but that isn’t most players. Players in general probably aren’t likely to just up and leave to save a few minutes on random BG queues if they only do them now and again (or not at all).

I’m sure you were rallying to nerf be and orc racials for all of legion so faction balance didn’t get to where it is? It’s so easy to sit on the dominant faction and accept things the way that they are but to say alliance racials shouldn’t get some attention after having ignored the blatant racial imbalance in legion is hypocritical.
If they had “balanced” racials coming out of warlords all these horde naysayers would be singing a different tune.
