Why did the font change and how can i change it back?

It looks bigger and I don’t like it

I hope it stays bigger. I can see it now.

But you’ll probably be able to make it smaller in time. Not today though.
Too much going on to deal with font size today.

Why did it change? Probably to support XBOX game play in the future. Everything needs to be bigger on a 10’ Interface.

Can you change it back? No. Blizzard would never allow that. Even though they could have added a global font setting in the options for PC users. Such an option would allow people to make the fonts larger or smaller to fit their personal needs.

My biggest challenge is many of the fonts and UI elements are now inconsistent. This is a really broken experience if you ask me.

They broke so so so many thing. I’m sure reducing the font size on the menu will happen some time in… 2026. Save this post.

Yeah it feels really weird especially since I have my UI scaled down to 70%, which I can notice a difference in the character selection screen, but the in-game menu when I click escape is huge

Not to mention the font size in the reputation and map tab

Everything just feels very off lol

Seems like some menus are super big and some of super small. I hope it gets fixed.

UI scaling is not working correctly right now. Considering the other deep core issues going on, I am sure this is low priority unfortunately. I too am having the issue and it also bothers me, so I am sympathetic.

Ah, well hopefully good that it wasn’t intentional!

Yes, all my fonts in Guild, professions etc are very odd now and hard to read. It’s not the Bold wow font as before, hoping for a fix soon!

The UI has been plagued by inconsistencies since the Dragonflight pre-patch “overhaul” (as Ion put it), and very little of it has changed. This new issue of UI scaling on the menu and Warband screen have been reported/discussed since Beta began, and it’s gone live that way. They don’t care.

I get that many people think it’s nitpicky claptrap but part of what I do for a living is ensure that the presentation of information is well-designed, consistent, and fluent – so these issues are glaringly obvious to my eyes. What I see in the WoW UI is continually half-a’d.

Misaligned buttons all over the place; the smaller font for the clock that is top-aligned; the minimap buttons unevenly spaced and the West-East compass points still don’t align with the edges of the top bar; wildly inconsistent button and text sizes on the Trading Post UI; old icon borders and graphics still being used for the pet collection/pet battle UI; I could go on and on.

They don’t care. They’ve had plenty of time. “But there are bigger fish to fry!” Sure, but there isn’t an intern or a new hire that could tasked with lining up things and using the new design language and iconography across the entire UI? No one?

Now we have a total cluster of new icons dotting the map; giant text here, tiny text there; giant buttons here, undersized buttons there; old graphics in some windows, new graphics in others; a ludicrously enormous spellbook with terrible beige drop shadows, blah blah blah.

I would lend a hand at getting all this stuff fixed, no charge. I’m sure plenty of other long-time WoW enthusiasts would, too.

They just don’t care…and it seems more and more pathetic that I do.

Just gonna say… I’ve worked with a bunch of UX designers in my career and it’s awesome when someone cares about this kind of thing - it’s just how they’re wired. And when they care about it this much the results are amazing when they have time / priority to fix it.

Not pathetic that you care about it more than they do. I wish the WoW team’s leadership took their craft more seriously.

It’s cause mobile gaming.
