Within the past week/week and a half my game has been having this issue of taking up an insane amount of resources and causing my computer to crap itself after roughly 15 minutes of playing. I’ve tried everything from doing a full UI/Interface reinstall to running the game in DirectX11, to limiting my FPS to 60 and all manner of dumb, arcane solutions that don’t actually fix the problem. It’s gotten to the point where I uninstalled every single Blizzard game and battle.net itself and did a full clean slate reinstall of bnet and WoW. After doing a complete reinstall of the game, memory usage according to task manager jumps from about 2GB to 5 in about 15 seconds. I have zero clue why this is happening because none of my friends are having this issue and it’s only Retail WoW that’s doing this. Classic WoW and other Blizzard games don’t have this issue and I’m able to run more graphically intensive games, even other MMOs with zero issues. The only forum posts/reddit threads/whatever I can find about WoW having bad memory leak issues are from November 2023 when 10.2 first launched. I’m at a complete loss with what to do,
Did you use the resource monitor to make sure it’s actually WoW that is causing this and not some background program?
I’ve been monitoring my computer constantly and nothing besides WoW seems out of the ordinary. From what I’ve noticed WoW seems to use up half a gig of RAM with every loading screen I go through. I’m able to play the game just fine as long as I don’t travel into a different instance at any point.
Honestly I think I’m just screwed at this point.
i’m having same issue after window restart overnight. i’m not computer literate so not sure if it’s something window downloaded causing game to lag and wow is using like 2BG of memory /sigh just unplayable…
https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-much-ram-do-i-have-pc#:~:text=Whether%20you're%20still%20on,how%20much%20you%20currently%20have
Please post how much ram you have after running this how to. Also, If and while you’re in the game enter window mode and view the task manager just to see if there’s anything else running in the back ground. Close all noncentral apps or other windows. try to reduce the video card slide to a lower level and adjust the textures also to a lower setting.

also have NVIDIA geforce GTX, which window setting is suppose to use it to run games. and my wow graphic setting already running at bare minimun too
Not sure it there’s any relevance… all i know is that wow got very laggy after window updates on Feb 13th.
Same thing happened back in Dec, after window update, game was pretty much unplayable! Then after Jan update… wow was miraculously completely playable again. I could run discord, music, and firefox without issue again after that Jan update.
Now it’s back to barely able to run wow even with nothing else running after Feb 13th updates. wow been taking over 2GB of memory to run the game. /sigh…
Below are the 2 window updates did on Feb 13th.
February 13, 2024—KB5034763 (OS Builds 19044.4046 and 19045.4046)
February 13, 2024-KB5034685 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2
